Anyone live or lived in Vegas? I may be moving out there and will be going out there next month to look at real estate. Just curious if there are any areas I should avoid or look into?

don't know about LV but I've lived in reno area and I would say Stay away from the strip and much as you can, due to the population of visitors, this I quess would apply to LV, good luck

Las Vegas just made Yahoos list as most deserted city in the USA. There should be plenty of good houses to buy. If I gave you a area to stay away from you would call me racist lol so good luck

Thats racist that you are not giving me the chance to call you racist....lol. Also 2stangs I did ask "what areas to look into as well"

I do remember playing against UNLV in college and there was a area by the university that was pretty sketchy. Not sure if it is still that way.

I have looked there as a place to live but for me there is just more areas bad then good over there. I like Henderson, the West side of Vegas and North West. But it seems like you have to pass all the crappy places before you get to a decent place. I race there almost every other month so I'm around the area quiet a bit and I used to live 3 hours from Vegas so when I got bored I would cruise over. Just remember not to set anything out for long cause if its out for an hour it will be tagged. Also consider the summer heat it doesn't cool down at night. I have driven out of Vegas in July at 4 am with the A/C on full blast. Even last years night race that ended at 3 in the morning the temps were still mid 90's.

Its pretty much like that where I am at currently. After researching it is pretty amazing how much house you can buy for 500k, down there. I'll be out there next month so I'll be definitely checking out henderson (company I am dealing with is out there too).

Man if I do this, not only do I not own a mustang anymore, but I wont even be living in Cali. Officially I wont have a purpose here...lol.

I lived out there for about 3 years and the nicest places are around Henderson and the Green Valley area. Also Summerlin is a nice area as well. some of the newer parts of north Las Vegas also although there are some sketchy parts in that area too

Wow...I hope you dont go out there and pay $500K for a house [Eek!] You could probably get by with a pretty big/new/nice house for half that...or less! I heard property out there is dirt cheap [patriot]

nah my loan amount is 500k, if I dont spend that then that is cool. But 500k gets you a lot of house out there. I saw a 6br 3ba 3 car garage for less that 500k almost 4k sq ft.

i lived there for 3 months.Summerlin and green valley are the best areas to live in,henderson isn't that bad basically the farther you live from the strip the better.Downtown and west vegas are not good at all.

I agree Summerlin is nice! If I was moving to Vegas it would be one of the first places I check out. Although if you drive north on Charleston to get there it looks a bit rough, but not bad then all of a sudden it gets real nice.

Thanks gents....My agent has recommended Summerlin as well as some of the others mentioned. BTW...I am not allergic to the ghetto...lol. Kinda used to it actually. But I am interested in quality of life, schools and convenience of amenities too. I was told some of the new areas are like ghost towns. Not really a turn on for me. I'll be out there next month and will look into what was suggested. Thanks guys
