Drag springs always sit like that. Thats why I would never run em, they look retarded & worse than stock....

Pull them, get some 87-93 4 cyl springs and enjoy the 1" drop and decent performance at the strip

don't springs usually "settle" and eventually lower a bit?

Exactly. And that airbag? Ya, it would go in a stock spring no problem.

Drive the car around a bit. They WILL settle.

Too late you already cut???? Damn drag launches are gonna sit high but once you drive it an feel the weight transfer its all worth it!! But they will settle down some for sure.

on a drag spring you dont wanna cut more than 1 coil otherwise youre not gonna get what the spring is intended to do

+1 most drag coils, no matter what brand tell you never to cut more the 1 coil...i run the moroso drag spring in the back. no air bag and my car sits fine(meaning stock). not the best pic but hey.

btw jon thanks for the input but i just want my car to sit real low like top of the tire low that just looks so sick...my car sits just like yours does in this pick and im not 110% about launch performance...i want the low look too...and i really dont think they will settle 3 inches!

What do you expect when you buy a "Drag Launch Kit". LOL. They are cut to fit. I usually take out 1-1.5 coils.

Posted by shiftylx (Member # 2670) on :

if i may ask, why did you buy "drag springs" if you don't care about launches and are more concerned about ride height? seems to me you shoulda just gone with a lowering spring like Eibach uses.

+1 it makes no sence in what ur doing waste of money buying those and time [Roll Eyes]

and not to mention the ride will suck if u cut too many coils. if its a street car, just get some lowering springs cuz lowering is what it seems your primary goal is

Posted by SIC9250 (Member # 8216) on :

god damn nothing but a bunch of haters...i traded the drag kit for some old ass eibach pros and the drags were in the box so no waste of money and yes the car is just a race car...so not knowing it would make my car sit up so fuckn high it was a very good deal..this damn site is getting so old with the negative opinions so ill just stick to myself on tech questions...thanks anyways.... I don't think anyone is hating on you bro. But ur post makes as much sense as me buying or trading for lowering springs then adding on coils to raise it up like drag springs.

Drag springs raise the car for weight transfer. So they did what they were supposed 2. U cutting them defeats the purpose. But if ur happy with what u did then who cares. But I wouldn't complain when everyone calls u out on it.

Umm just to let you know, "drag" springs arent known or designed to be "stiff". They are designed for weight transfer. [Wink] After reading your thread I can tell you I have no idea what your ending goal was or is

honestly though i dont expect anyone from this site to understand where i was getting at.. your all to narrow minded to actually read a thread where i asked for something completly different then u gave opinions on so im not really stressin off the neg feedback i got...so ya fuck this thread.... [Roll Eyes]

That looks good. But who knows how it will work until you try it out. Bring that thing out on the street or track and see how it does. I wouldn't have cut thoses coils myself but the again I wouldn't get drag springs. Hope it works out for you.

Basically you want it to sit low, but still luanch like a drag set up. Correct???? So why not spend the extra cash and do a coilover swap?? [Confused]

Posted by SIC9250 (Member # 8216) on :

coilovers huh?? [Roll Eyes] ya i wish im building on a budget [patriot]

Posted by 1Sicgt (Member # 714) on :

And there are budget ones out there........ You know, the great part about most people is their lack of knowledge or their willingness to listen and take suggestions.

When it comes to coilover kits the sleeve style kits do accomplish the same and the threaded shock style ones. Kits like the Moroso, or QA1, even the Granitelli*(spelling) are decent kits. Then depending on the Spring legnth and spring rate you order, you get your desired ride height and firmness you want.

You could have gotten a budget set-up for under $200 for the rear easily. And finding front lowering springs isn't hard. Craigslist or even here.

Don't get snappy at people when you do get advice. Some of it makes more sence then using just crappy drop springs on a track car. [Roll Eyes]
