Clean pics/cars. The blue fox is sick. Something about the front bumper always bothers me tho. But still looks better than my foxes [Big Grin]

What kind of camera you got?

The Hoya 52mm Skylight is the filter on the end of the lens. You have a Nikon 18-55 kit lens, the camera is a D40.

The next lens you should get is a Nikon 18-200VR. It has vibration reduction built in which negates the need for a tripod. You don't really need to get a tripod unless you shoot in low light all the time or want to take pics with you and your honey. It has enough of a range to take pictures of 99% of the things you would want to, its about $650 (good glass is expensive but WELL worth it and you can continue using them as you upgrade the rest of your gear).

I started with a D80 and an 18-135 kit lens. Then it just started snowballing, 18-200VR, 50mm 1.4D, SB-800 Flash, 70-200VR (bad ass lens), D300 with grip, Gitzo Carbon Fiber Tripod with Markins Ball Head, and the list goes on...

Thanks for the compliments guys, & thanks FoxGT for the tips. BTW, how can I get the blue sky to look more vibrant & less washed out?? Everytime I take pics, it seems to look so bright...

The camera also came with this lens kit..I dunno much about it, but i know that i have to stand d@mn near 100 feet away to get a full shot of my car....

The reason is because your highlights are blown. You are overexposing the pictures. There is a +/- button on the camera, i usually have mine set to -0.7, which means underexpose 2 stops. Once you do that you can try turning the saturation up, use a polarized filter or if you have adobe lightroom you can saturate the blue.

thanks... I dont have adobe light room, but i will take the advice about the exposure. What about the lens I posted above? what is that good for???

That one is a Sigma Zoom Telephoto 100-300mm. Bird photography? At the track I use my 70-200mm and sometimes I'm far enough away that I'm zoomed in to 200mm. Lightroom is a tight program, especially if you shoot in RAW.

What is shooting in "Raw" mean?

Posted by FoX GT (Member # 4587) on :

Raw is an uncompressed format and allows you to tweak the compensation, white balance, etc with a program after without messing up the picture. You may see it labeled NEF in your camera as that is the RAW extension for Nikon.
