cops impounding cars from there homes for street racing. today the spd is making the rounds in stockton picking up people's cars for street racing. i have had 4 calls today about it. so if you live around the 209 make sure you put your car in the garage and keep that door shut. my buddy got his car taken today for racing it 9 months ago! so if your going to street race cover those plates! and watch out! I have a family and can't wait till their old enough to start racing, I feel no safer on the street then I do at a track. You said you used to and now you hate on it?? How can you say you do not feel safer at the track. The track has all sort of safety precautions there. On the other hand the public is much safer with you at the track. To each his own but I think they should take all cars from street racers and impound them. My wife and kids are out there driving on public roads. Someone hits them racing and I know I would go to prison for killing them and not feel bad about it.

He is young. I just hope you dont learn the hard way. I had a friend killed in a race years back (he wasnt even racing was just driving by it). That was it for me on that. I have had half a dozen friends die on motorcycles so I dont touch those either. SOme have to learn the hardway while others learn from others mistakes. 1320 I hope you are the latter. Nothing worse than learning by dying or taking a life. There is nothing safe about public street racing. Nothing.

I enjoy going to the track but don't always have the time available to drive 2hrs every week just to pay gate fees and gas to get a few runs in then turn around and come home. damn does every post now a days becomes a flameing war?.. i street race. but i guess street racing means differnt things to differnt people. i run a full safety set up to pass tech for 10.00. when i set up a race its only me and the guy i'm racing and a few buddys. road is out in the cuts, clear and prepped, 1/4 mile marked out. only thing we are lacking is walls to hit if you lose it. bummer you go into the ditch instead of hitting the wall. i don't hate on people that don't street race, but they sure seem to hate on us.

I run legal cars, sfi bell housings, 3 inch wheel studs, harnesses, and I caged my last ride, that's what makes me feel safe, not someone sitting on the back of a truck waiting to rush out and tow me back to the pits.

One big difference in racing at the track and on the street is that there is an ambulance sitting track side to assist You if something happen's. On the street You never know when someone is going to pull out in front of You or cut You off "which does'nt happen at the track" & there is alot less people driving while under the influence at the track. Also there is a measure of safety with the car's being teched in at the track. We all know that there are risk's involved in all types of racing but there is a BIG difference in the safety of racing at the strip as compared to the street

My .02 cents.

I'm doing myself and the public a favor and keeping my car off of the streets for a couple of reasons. One of them cops and the other general safety and the fact that Id like to keep my car in my possession.

I dont care if I was 19 or 30 (been both) when it comes to a challenge at the stop light or on the freeway a little demon goes off in my head and has no regard for anyone. My leg starts to shake (just like at the track) and out comes this beast, swerving in and out of traffic and even hitting the emergency lane if I have to. Cop gets behind me and I lose them. Never did get caught. But I have started to realize the error in my ways......

The last thing I want to do is take a guys wife and kids out, as I have a wife and a kid and I can stand outside the box, now.

BUT I realize that I have this "problem" so to prevent myself from giving in, I drive a slow ass acura TL-S and a slow ass suburban, keeping my track car at the track where it was intended to be. It sucks and is kinda costly keeping up with SFI and NHRA rules but it is part of the sport.

My car is registered, currently, but only so that I can have the clean title, in my name. Once the tags come up and smog is due, again. I will non-op it.

I know it will be funny when I pull up at the track with an 11 second car on the trailer but hey...it keeps me and the public safe.

Seems funny when I used to drive an 11 second car to the track......

I don't agree with you. Even if there is a track here people will still race. They will find another reason not to go like " I don't wanna pay the 25 bucks" or " I don't want to have to pass the safety inspection"

I listened to every post but in your mind I have to say "I agree I'll quit" to be considered as giving it thought? It's not a me me me attitude but I worked a job, paid for my toys, and am going to enjoy them same as anyone else. I said I run at night on empty roads with other streetracers. No one out there doesn't know what's going on and it's their own decision to be a racer or spectator. Are you honestly going to tell me you have never had that viper over the posted speed limit on a public road ?? you've never once got on it a little or a lot when someone has pulled up to fuck with you?? not once cmon awnser that honestly.

No one out there doesn't know what's going on and it's their own decision to be a racer or spectator. Are you honestly going to tell me you have never had that viper over the posted speed limit on a public road ?? you've never once got on it a little or a lot when someone has pulled up to fuck with you?? not once cmon awnser that honestly.

Yes I can honestly say I don't street race. I always have people mess with me and I simply don't do it. I've had mustangs cut me off on the freeway and almost cause accidents because I wouldn't run them. I've run at sacto and that's it for racing.
You say you only race in late night isolated areas. Are you honestly saying you have never gotten on it yourself when someone revs at you at a light or on the freeway? If you haven't then good for you. But if you did, then you are a liar saying you only run at desolate areas.
When you have a family and have assets ( like equity in a home) you have to ask yourself is it fair to your family to put yourself at risk since they depend on you.
