Yeah, some interest!

Rather than copy/paste everything into this thread, here are some helpful links to how to get started including what to bring, how to prep your car, and some driving tips. You can bring any car, just no SUVs, trucks, or go-karts. I've seen everything from a grocery getter 4-door Corolla to a Ferrari.

If you're free this weekend you should try to come out for at least one day of the American Autocross event this weekend. It will be held Saturday and Sunday, but you do not have to stay for both days. These are really the most fun events I've been to. More runs, faster (speed) and wider courses, and best track conditions.

I can help you decide which class to run in if you let me know the mods of your car.

I'd suggest just bringing your car and running on your street tires to get a feel for how the events run so you can decide if it is a sport you'll like. So far everyone I've brought out has become addicted!

All autocrossers are newbie friendly! Let them know you're new and get some tips and ride alongs in some of the faster cars running stickies.

This weekend's event.

Dates - Saturday, Aug. 11, and Sunday, Aug. 12

Cost - $40.00 for your first run card. This will give you five runs. If you ran in the morning and would like to run for fun in the afternoon, you can purchase a second run card for $20 for 5 additional runs. *Note, you must work one group for each group you run.

Time - Track opens at 8am. Morning groups start at 9am. Lunch groups start at 12:30pm.

Helmets - Required, Snell M or SA 95 or newer. There are some loaners available.

I also posted this in the RoadRacing/Autocross section: http://www.californiafords.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=000278

Let me know if you think you can make it. I'm running the afternoon group this weekend in Street Tire Ladies with my silver GT.

Bring it out! I bet that'd be a lot of fun. Don't need a v8 to enjoy this type of racing.

SVOs were created to be parted [Smile]

I am debating between turning it into either a road/auto X car, or a drag car.

I have a Powerstroke Intercooler, and a Turbo off a Cummins that I am going to add so far... I think it would be cool either way though.

SVO's are notorious for wiring issues, and a few other issues... it will be cut up either way...

I hate all the "preserve the SVO" freaks!
