Wow, there is a lot of talk between which is better. Shopping for one is not easy. I have spent too much time on researching the FACTS and I have come to the conclusion that there are a few minor differences in appearance, graphics, and performance. People tend to try and pursuade others with their own opinions. Some are XBOX fans and some are Playstation fans.
After playing GEARS OF WAR for many hours online with my brother, I am hooked.
XBOX live has many options that the PS3 does not offer. For instance chatting, or instant messaging, or voice mail, all which aren't available on the PS3. You can only communicate once in the game.
However, I did see many online games that have up to 32 players at one time with the PS3, and that is something that I like, massive online play. And when I saw the article about Killzone, I have to get it. It is costing them more than some movies cost to make, in the millions. Not to say it wont be a flop, but look at the link for yourself. In conclusion, I will not let people persuade me with their simple opinions. After playing both and looking up a few of the games, I have decided that I will most likely get both. After all, it's about the game that is on the console and since Halo 3 might only be on XBOX and KillZone only on PS3, then I need both. lol. I will just have to save a bit for the PS3, but wont be a problem since the good games aren't even out yet.

[worship] Thats what I did. I got both. I do enjoy my 360 more tho and games look better on it at the moment. But I am waiting for God of Waar 3 on ps3. That may revive ps3.

hardware-wise X-Box 360 blows the PS3 away IMO. This article helped me decide. I'm hook on fight night plus the new test drive is gonna kick ass.

xbox 1 was doing it since halo 2 hit live. Once that started 360 took over from there. Halo 3 should be the ps3 killer.

microsoft has better warranty service.a friend of mine got the ring of death on his 360 called microsoft.sent it out, within a week and a half he had a new one.sony always tries to bone the consumer.and even if they didnt they are overseas so it would take longer.my 2 cents.

i've played both and i still think that my PC blows away any graphics on either the xbox 360 or ps3. you can always upgrade a PC to keep up with better graphics and speed, whereas I don't see that happening with the gaming console systems. *it's pretty easy and cheap to build one too*
If I had to go with one though, it would be the 360. Better games imo, and xbox live is pretty cool. If you like massive online wars (stick with the PC). Nothing better than 50 on 50 combats [Smile]

I just built my PC and it cost me a little over $1,000 to make it and I think it might be a little bit more powerful than my X360. The only comaprison I have is GRAW for both. I still prefer playing on consoles the games feel....I don't know....more solid. A really good graphics card costs more than the Xbox360 itself.

PC will always be better than console. Though that margin is getting smaller. Really cant compare the 2 (console and PC). Hell the new vid cards and AGP/PCI express technologies place computer games in another level alone.

But you cant beat consoles for the game feel. Not sure how to put it, but the console gaming just seems more natural. Although I still play CS and DoD

Thanks for all the responses.

I wanted to take some time to respond to the responses. First off, Halo is a great game, no doubt. But if you like those types of games then KILLZONE 2 and Resistance: Fall Of Man should be great Competitors to this game. Once again, opinions. I would also purchase Halo 3, but I would get it for my PC since I like First Person Shooters better on the PC. Once again personal preference.
As far as the warranty goes. What if you were to purchase the PS3 at Costco. Don't they have a lifetime warranty on all of their electronics? If this is the case, XBOX 360 and PS3 are safe in that department.
Somebody stated that the Hardware is better on the XBOX 360. That is true and not true. First off, HARDWARE is a broad term. It can be defined in many different ways. Be careful on what you read, because people tend to throw their own OPINIONS in the articles. The article that was posted was at End of Quarter, which was before the Software companies that are making the good games got a hold of the PS3.
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617951p1.html The makers of Resistance, Gran Turismo HD, and WarHawk all say that there was a lot of things, such as the SPE's, that allow the games to do much more. XBox 360 has ATI and PS3 Nvidia.
Oh, as far as comparing to PC's it is like apples to oranges. Most consoles get dated as computers can be upgraded. If you want a great computer with a really good graphics card, it will cost a lot more than most consoles. The Sony executives, however, did appreciate all the previous consumers of the PS1, PS2, and PSP. This is why they made it compatible to all the previous systems. XBox 360 has a cool feature where it will upgrade the graphics in the games that do work for the system, such as Halo 2. If you have that game and a High Def. setup, pop the game in and enjoy in HD quality.
Finally, the games are what its all about. XBOX 360 has Halo which is a very impressive game and hard to beat. Did you guys forget Grand Theft Auto? GTA4 will be coming out in late 2007 and Gran Turismo looks impressive as well. Take a peek at some of the games they will be releasing for PS3.

Keep in mind, both systems will have crappy games, because the software companies just want to make a quick buck or they have no business making games in the first place. But both systems will have games that you will not be able to live without, and I must have them all.

Disney Fox and couple other major networks are only signed up with Blu-Ray. Where only Universal is exclusive to HD DVD only. at least that's what the tech nerds said on

I was thinking the same thing initially until I heard of the option to buy the HD DVD player separately for the XBox. The Blue Ray and HD DVD's are a whole other contraversey. I am curious to see which one wins so I can start investing in one or the other.

I bought the Xbox 360 from Costco and love it. $510.02 out the door with a great warranty is much cheaper than the PS3. They even have a Gears of War bundle on Costco.com.

Gears of War multiplayer is so sick.

Xbox live Gold is awesome. It matches all your high scores and records to all your friends so you can compete if you have same games/achievements (Gamerscore). Also it also tells you when they are online and want to play with you. You can even play MP3's while playing AND talk to your friends via headset at the same time.

PS3 online is good but not great. What games are great for it? Resistance is okay but ain't nothing to Gears of War.

I would buy a 360 and save that $200 to buy Gears of War..

from what I have seen/read so far the quality is better on the hd player than the blue ray...due to some lingo that I don't completely understand also the hd dvd's are way out selling blu ray because the cost of the blu ray player and media is too expensive from little to no gain in quality of movies and what not. what has got me interested is hvd if you havent heard of it check this out

Blu-Ray has the storage advantage, but the playback and stuff like that HD-DVD has beat it out. Blu-Ray will be my choice for my server back-ups and imaging tho [worship]

I have the 360 HD-DVD add-on and the quality is awesome! Movies that are only for BluRay in the US can be purchased overseas as the distribution rights are different. I have just ordered Total Recall HD-DVD which is BluRay only in the U.S.

Each platform console has it's pros and cons. Personally I bought a PS2 about 9 months after they had been out because I wanted to play the GTA series as well as the Metal Gear series which at that time were only available on the PS2.

Honestly lately I've been leaning towards the 360 due to Gears Of War and the next installment of Halo.

I haven't been playing anything other than SOCOM FTB II on PSP and other PSP games before bed.

i have a 360 and i love it; gears of war is definitely the best game out there right now. i plan on getting a wii whenever i can get it easily in stores and i'll buy a ps3 when they finally have killer apps for it. imo, sony is gonna lose a lot of market share with the ps3. its just way too expensive for most people and titles that were once exclusive to sony will most likely be multi platform this time around. as for pc gaming, a pc will always be able to outperform any console. however, it seems like gaming companies and developers are less willing to contribute time to pc games and thus for the most part we see bad ports and buggy games (with a few exceptions).

The Wii is for kids and old people looking to get exercise while playing ridiculously basic puzzle games until arm cramps render them helpless. My 50-year old Auntie has one because it's so easy to use.

I'll give it up to Nintendo for making an innovative console but I think their gamebase is just the same shit. Mario, Zelda, basic sports = $$$$$$ crop.

The 360 sucks ass, I was planing on buying one untill I played my friends 360 on his 42" Plasma. I played all the games, Gears of War, Fight Night, NHL 2007, a ton more games. I was not impressed at all, people have been talking about it like it is the holy grail of consoles. Only thing left to do is to play PS3 and see which is better for myself.

thats what ive been saying. my brother has an xbox 360 and i was never really impressed by it either. personaly i would rather play a ps2 lol

thats the problem with the 360 and the ps3. the games, given a few exceptions, are merely graphical upgrades and nothing more. the call of duty games, madden, etc., play pretty much the same as they did on the last gen consoles with the exception of looking better. however, over time the games will undoubtedly become better, look better, and play better. the ps2 and the original xbox didn't hit their respective stridse till a year or two into their run. in fact, i think this is why the nintendo wii is such a seller, it passed on providing drop dead gorgeous graphics and instead focused on innovating gameplay and the gaming experience.

To me, Gears of War just looks really bland. I have seen it on an HDTV and it just seems to lack color and depth. I had a 360 and not all games seem that way to me, just Gears. I have been playing the demo for Motorstorm on my PS3 and the graphics quality is unreal on that game.

really!? compared to other console FPS's out there i think GOW looks amazing. maybe compared to half life 2 on a pc with all the graphical settings maxed out it may look bland, but compared to resistance, call of duty, i think it looks amazing. as for motorstorm, it looks cool, but the demo as far as gameplay goes sucks imo.

Maybe Gears of War lacks color since it's based ON THE END OF THE WORLD. Based on that, I have FPS's for awhile to notice that for a console game GOW definitely hangs with top-notch computer graphic-wise (but not speed wise).

When I imagine the end of the world I don't see striking fields of marigolds and luscious green rainforests, I think of broken buildings and smoldering bomb craters, etc. Which is what GOW is all about.

Also, a new map pack just came out via Xbox live from the developers of Gears of War just to enhance the multiplayer even more.

My TV has has 4 HD inputs, 2 HDMI and 2 Component HD inputs. My Satellite is attached to the HDMI and the Xbox is attached to one of the component inputs.

X BOX 360 is better. Only reason to get a PS3 is for the blu ray. But when Gran Turismo comes out who knows but I heard FORZA Motorsports is better.

My TV has has 4 HD inputs, 2 HDMI and 2 Component HD inputs. My Satellite is attached to the HDMI and the Xbox is attached to one of the component inputs.

I have a sony 61" XBR but it doesn't look nearly as good as your does. Is yours a rear projection or flat panel?

IMO, if you are basing what console you are gonna buy/support only on graphics... you will wind up bored as hell. A game could have the best damned graphics ever... but play like crap.

Look at most of the PS3 launch games!!! Several looked great, but reviewers and hands on play will tell you they were lacking in the -gameplay- department! It's like having a supermodel come over to spend the night, and then only to find out she's broken down there... LET DOWN!

Dont get me wrong.. I'll get a PS3... when the games are there in terms of graphics and gameplay!

Each console will have its ups and downs, true... but in the end, you are playing the GAMES (regardless of how they look) not the console's ability to render graphics.

Have you even played a Wii? Zelda is a effing blast! Excite truck is so damned fun! Sure, the graphics wont make you crap yourself on your 2 million inch HDTV, but the playability of the games are the entire point of the console!

Ok, I broke down and purchased the PS3. The good and the bad.

Good: The online play has been great. Not only can you play online with a lot of people, but there has been little to no lag such as my pc with about 40 people online (Resistanc:Fall of Man). Fight Night 3 is very nice online as well. You can fight other people and chat with them using any Blue Tooth capable ear piece (you don't have to buy some earpiece that is required like some consoles). I also downloaded a ton of things from their online store, including demos, mini games, Blue Ray Trailers etc. and it was all free. I also went online with their browser and added a few sites on my favorites, such as CAFORDS. The controller is neat too. I got the PS3 about four days ago and I have been playing it nonstop and I only had to charge once. The cool thing about that is you can play while it is charging.

The BAD: Not enough games out yet. I have two pretty good games, Fight Night Round 3 and Resisstance: Fall of Man. I might get a basketball game, but those seem to be all the same. Not much else out yet and a lot of releases keep getting pushed out. I can't wait for KILLZONE. I also tried to get another controller, but every where I go seems to be sold out.

Other than that, a pretty good console. If I had a blue tooth keyboard and mouse, I wouldn't really need the pc much. You can surf the internet just fine, and it looks good on my Sony 46" LCD. By the way, Best Buy in Roseville by the Galleria Mall has plenty in stock. The guys said he just received about 125 out of the blue. My advice if you are thinking about getting the PS3 is to get it.

No, but I have downloaded the blu ray movie trailers in full HD 1080P and they look really good
