I decided to camp out for a PS3. We went down on tuesday to wal-mart to see how they were going to do the release I was told that there was a line around the side of the building. We went and looked and sure as shit there were 3 people waiting so we decided to jump in too. We waited from 3 PM on tuesday till midnight thursday camping out with 14 of us there by 10 PM the first night. They ended up with 10 systems total and 6 were the premium ones. A bunch of people came and were hanging out at around 10PM on thursday saying that we were crazy to wait so long but had to stand by as we left with our systems empty handed. The store even had several security people walk our group to the cars. I had a lot of fun just hanging out with a big group of people for 3 days and the management at wal-mart made sure that if we were there first we got the systems.... and yes, every system went to a person that got there early tuesday evening. I'm tired and going to bed now....

There was a EBGAMES close to my neighborhood that was robbed for the all the 360's and PS3. Now that's gangsta. They are for sure going to make a killing on selling the units.

They had a large covered area on the side so they put us there. I had a chair, matress pad and a blanket. We decided to sit there because its 24 hour so we get it at midnight and a full service store with bathrooms. The units are all scanned in and so they know by serial number which ones were stolen and anyone that buys a system without a receipt is taking a chance. In order to download updates, add ons for your games and patches you need to connect to the server. If you try to connect to the server with a stolen PS your screwed. You also cant sell on ebay without putting in the serial number. One guy that was in line with us worked at Best Buy and couldnt get one there, another guy had a presell that he got in Feb at gamestop. He was fifth on the list and when he called they said they only got one system so he was fucked untill the next shippment in 07.

My crackhead came thru (paid him to wait), picking mine up when I get off work. Probably wont play it for a bit tho. Still paying Gears and gonna start Call of Duty 3. Then getting a Wii on Sunday.

You hella savage for camping out tho. I dont think I can pull myself to do that.

Well..this whole ps3 thing is weird, but I guess if there is someone stupid enough to pay all that cash for one then so be it.

A lot of these bidders are dead beat bidders. People that scam, or just to fool around. If you look at the high bidders, some of them are the same on other auctions with crazy pricing. This was the same problem with the XBOX360 when it first came out. It was hard to weed out the real bidders.

HARTFORD, Connecticut (AP) -- Two armed thugs tried to rob a line of people waiting for the new PlayStation 3 game system to go on sale early Friday and shot one man who refused to give up his money, authorities said.

It was about 3 a.m. when the two gunmen in Putnam, a town of about 9,000 residents in northeast Connecticut, confronted 15 to 20 people standing outside a Wal-Mart store and demanded money, said State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance.

"One of the patrons resisted. That patron was shot," Vance said.

Vance said the two gunmen fled after shooting Michael Penkala, 21, of Webster, Massachusetts, in the chest and shoulder. Penkala was in stable condition at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, with injuries not believed to be life threatening, Vance said.

Police were searching for the suspects, both believed to be in their teens, Vance said. He said one was wearing a ski mask and brandishing a handgun, and the other had what appeared to be a shotgun.

About 30 miles away, another shopper was beaten and robbed of his new PlayStation 3 just minutes after he bought it at a store in Manchester, police said.

The shopper told police five men surrounded and beat him as he left the Shoppes at Buckland Hills with the new PlayStation.

Police Sgt. Chris Davis said the attackers pushed one of their cohorts out of the car as they drove away. That man, a 17-year-old from Windsor, was charged with robbery, larceny, assault and breach of peace.

Nationwide, short supplies of the PS3 and strong demand led to long lines of buyers, some waiting for days outside stores. Once the doors opened Friday, they pushed and shoved their way to the shelves in several cities to get at the limited supply. In Sullivan, Indiana, a man was in critical condition after emergency surgery for a stab wound after he and a friend tried to rob two men of consoles they waited 36 hours in line to buy, police said.

Andrew Templeton, 20, and David Wiggins, 28, of Sullivan, Indiana, were assaulted by two teens after waiting for 36 hours at a Super Wal-Mart, police said.

They were unloading their PlayStation 3s from their car when two teens approached them carrying a chain and a tire iron and demanding their consoles, said Sullivan Police Chief David Story.

A fight broke out. Wiggins' nose was broken, and he stabbed one of the attackers, Dylan Moss, 19, police said. Moss was in critical condition after surgery, officials said.

Sullivan County Prosecutor Bob Springer said he plans to charge Moss and accomplice Dustin Fagg, 19, with felony robbery.

Elsewhere, two men wearing black ski masks and sunglasses made off with five consoles after holding two employees at gunpoint at an Englewood, Ohio, video game store Thursday night, police said.

A Pennsylvania teenager was also robbed of his new PlayStation by a man who tapped on his car window with a handgun in Allentown, police said.

In Lexington, Kentucky, someone fired BB pellets from a passing vehicle at people waiting outside a Best Buy store, according to WKYT, whose own reporter said she was among four people grazed while she interviewed buyers in line.

Police fired a talcum powder ball at the ground outside a Target store in Henrico, Virginia, to get the attention of an unruly crowd of about 350 people who were waiting to buy one of the shop's eight consoles, police said.

I wish that we had gotten to go home and wait. We really didnt have much trouble but one guy did threaten to "kick someones ass" to get their spot in line. He was told that the only thing he would get is a trip to the hospital. He did hang around for an hour but then left after we spent the entire time fuckin with him. We also had quite a few offers to buy the spots in line but no one sold out. Everyone was cool and I had fun hanging out but wont ever camp out for a system release again.
