Somewhat related...

I called 911 on some guy I saw Friday night/early Saturday morning. Around 12:30am, I saw a guy squatting next to the driver's side door of a foxbody. He looked suspicious each time a car drove by... kinda like he'd tuck something away between his legs and he'd watch each car drive by. Something didn't quite look right, so I called 911 and asked them to check it out.

Hopefully it wasn't some guy locked out of his car.

Yeah I decided to take my Stang to the Mall the other day wich is about 1 mile away. My Girl came with me. When I parked I popped the hood and started doing the normal shit like Rotor, pulling wires, Fuel pump Relay. She was like we are just going in and coming back out. I told her I DON'T CARE. She just didn't understand how these mustangs we have get picked dailey!

Well California is a big state, that's no surprise.

Here is the rest of the story...

The vehicles stolen most frequently were made between 1985 and 1997 and don't have car alarms.

Auto theft is the No. 1 property crime in America, costing more than $8 billion a year. What's more, the FBI reports that auto theft is on the increase.

No where is that more true than in California where vehicle theft has surged from 210,000 cars stolen in 2001 to more than 227,000 in 2002. California Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Maskarich describes most car thefts as transportation thefts. "They are stealing older cars and using them to joyride, to commit other crimes, and to get from Point A to Point B," he told Oakland's Tri-Valley Herald newspaper, noting that many car thefts are crimes of opportunity. "People pull into a convenience store, leave their keys in the car, come back, and it's gone," Maskarich added.

Tips to protect your vehicle:

When you park the car, shut the windows and lock the doors.
Park in well-lit areas at night.
Don't leave electronics lying on the front seat.
Use a car alarm, wheel or brake lock, or other theft warning or deterrent device.
