do you not have enough credentials to just apply to an agency? much better to get paid for the academy than to pay for it

It's much easier to get hired as an academy graduate than as a recruit though.

I know someone that applied 6 years ago and just went thorugh academy with me and is now barely working.

First I would figure out who I want to work for?? Some agencies will require you to go through there academy no matter what even if you have your POST certificate. Im a non-sponsor which means im putting myself through but now I wish I would of applied as a recruit to get paid.... oh well. Second I would talk to a few recruiters and ask about your background..... Waste of money if your background is not acceptable. Im in an extended format which is 9 months 28 hours a week... and there is a full time Mon-Thurs that is 6 months long. I would recommend a full time if money allows just because your done faster.

I just got my letter to take the writen test for Sac Sheriff's Deputy trainee position. Do they use a standardized test? I passed the CHP written so I don't think the sheriff's could be that bad.

when are you testing? mine is on the 30th [patriot] i already took the sac pd test but failed the first interview, got ~67 on the test when 42 was passing, i dunno if i have to take it again or i can submit my previous score

Yeah mine is on the 30th too. The letter I got blew away when I had my windows down in my truck. I know its at the Scottish Rite Center, but what time? 2pm?

Yeah, they use the POST exam just like everyone else. It's the same as the CHP exam, minus the essay portion.
