well at least i think its a WWI knife... found it cleaning up the attic of my new house, has "U.S. L.F.& C. 1917" stamped on the metal and "Lt. B.R.F." carved on the wooden handle along with a bunch of tally marks... wonder if its worth anything...

the talley marks could be the amount of people that were killed with that knife.

That is an awesome find man. Since you wont really get that much for it why dont you try and find out who it belonged to? Maybe a little history about the knife can help you sell it or take it the antiques road show!

hmmm...problem is if he brings it up to the previous owners, they could be full of shit and say it's theirs...unless they were the only people who have ever owned the house.

Yea thats what i was thinkning... Its a cool knife but at the same time im not really a big collector so it would be cool to give it to the family, that is if there is any family members... but i would amagine it would be pretty hard to locate the family.

The county assesors office could show you the past owners of the house, maybe you'll get lucky and the initials will fit an owner. Or, find the oldest neighbor and ask them if they knew who was in the house.

Nice find...personally i would keep it and pass it down my family (greedy bastard i know) but it would be very cool to find out who that belonged to and give it to his family.

could keep it and give it to your grandkids later and tell them it was yours and make up some wild story about the initials being the first person you killed and the tallys the rest, they just werent as important as the first kill so they didnt get there names carved on it. just watch out that dude doesnt come haunting you looking for that fucker.
