This coming May 15th is bike to work day and I am looking forward to pedaling at least 40 miles to and from work. If any body else is interested in parking their Mustang for a day just to save on gas or do somthing different, you can check outwww.511.org for all the details. If you register for bike do work day, you could win a $750 bicycle shop gift certificate. [patriot]

Ok with the hummer you get the 100 points for running over the biker on his way to work but if you back up and run over him again you get double points. I cant wait till thursday when those spandex morons signal a left turn and my car rips their arm off. Remember thursday is knock down pedal pussy day. If you knock down the most you get a free nx kit for your stang. [Eek!] [Eek!] [Roll Eyes]

It appears that not every body at CA Ford's is with me on the bike to work day gig and that's ok, But remeber to share the road with cyclists when ever you drive your Mustang, lightning,Super duty Power stroke or what ever you happen to cruise in, especialy on thursday, because a fellow California Ford's member will be out on thursday biking on the mean streets of San Francisco and Marin County. Jesus christ, what the hell is wrong with riding your bike to work!!? Some of you guys are fuckin sick, you dont even know the guy and your saying your gonna run him over!!!? [Mad] [Mad] Just in case you hadnt noticed, gasoline is a NON-renewable(or at least a very slowly renewable) resource and I'd think that while YOU may not want to ride your bike you may want to encourage others to instead of telling them that your going to run them down with your car. Admittedly SOME road bikers blow thru lights and and violate other traffic laws but, most road bikers espically commuters ride safely. I'm sorry so many of you seem to have so much trouble navigating around bicyclists but, bikers pay taxes and have just as much right to their portion of the road as any car.

cobraracer46-Way to go man! Sounds like a pretty long ride(SF to Marin), and dealing with asshole drivers makes it sound even worse. I know i'd probably make it to work at about when it was time to go home, commuting on my bike.

lol@ the last 10 replies or so,
I'm up for the 20 mile each way trip to work, I've done it a few times before, but dealing with road ragers makes it pretty unsafe, it's ridiculous out there near freeway onramps/offramps.

get off the bike and loosen up your spandex. if that aint it, your helmet is on too tight.

I don't want to start a war with every body and get get off on the wrong foot so to speak over a post.It is unfortunate that some members have issues about cyclists. I happen to think that this post and biking are NOT GAY. Any body who spends any time road racing knows that being in shape is an advantage and plenty of F1 and Champ car drivers bike regulary for that reason so I guess they must be gay too. [BS flag] If some poeple want to respond with negetivity, They need to back it up with some facts. When ever I talk trash about a Camaro for example,I provide facts like " they suck because there is a big hump on the pass floor for the cat converter and you need to drop the rear axel housing in order to install a high flow pump" Even though I hate Camaro's, I wouldn't go so far as to call a Chevy driver a Fag so Let's bury the hatchets, ok? Well, wouldnt be caught dead in spandex, as for the old brain bucket, who knows. I'm actually a mountain biker and try to avoid riding around cars but just dont find even joking about running people down (espically some guy you dont know) all that funny. Just a suggestion but, possibly the old, "well buddy I dont ride but thats cool that you do" would have been more appropriate.

honkin at em isn't as fun as dropping the clutch in 2nd as you pass right next to em [Big Grin] don't get me wrong i have a bike and ride sometimes around town, but when you're forced to drive slow behind a group of them cause they think it's their right to ride down the middle of the road, thats when the rubber starts to fly and the cyclists start to scatter [burnout] [burnout]

Wow... I didnt even read this post until now cause the title screamed gay but since there was a few pages I figured what the hell. You guys kill me.

91sleeper- You had me rolling with that first post. Haven't made that ride in years, seems like the never ending ride.

As for the fact that a lot of bikers are jack ass's here's a little story. A lot of my friends in high school lived on ranchs in the country on narrow roads. It was always fun throwing out left over trash and cew spit cups at these jack ass that are impeding the flow of traffic. Well one day a guy I knew was driving home, he came around a turn on a old country road and here is a jack ass in the road on a bike. So he swerves to avoid running over this idoit in his big dodge ranch truck. As he did this here comes a little old 65 year old lady in her brand new escort ends up totalling the car and hurting the lady But good thing his truck kept spinning and he hit the fags as well.
Moral of the story keep you dumb ass out of the road way. You are no different then the idoits in san jose that get on the freeway doning 35 mph and heading for the fast lane(we all know which group of ass clowns I'm talking about LMFAO).

WOW, 40 miles to work!...Good luck, [patriot] I hope it doesnt rain...I used to ride my Mountain bike to work everyday, until I saved enough money to get my 94 5.0, I never wore Spandex though....Some people have no idea about cycling...It takes a lot of physical ability and strength to ride well...

I guess some people have a certain kind of stereotype of bike riders....I always had a lot of respect for people who ride their bikes...A friend of mine mountain bikes up Mission Peak in Fremont over 10 times a week...That dude can probably kick the shit out of most people and he's only 5'5"....

I dont understand why people are talkin shit?...I come across way more dumb asses driving 50mph in the fast lane with no traffic in front of them, than I come across a cyclist in the middle of the road... [Confused]

Okay ur callin people who are tryin to do something good for all of us( not driving there cars or using transportation that pollutes the air) gay and sh*t like that what does that have to do with riding a back..to be honest with u I dont think to many gay guys ride bikes and not everyone who wears spandax is gay thats the clothing some bikers wear and Im sure theres a reason why. And running them off the road...wtf is wrong with u people like there isnt enough f*cked up shit going on in the world why dont u take all that negative energy and spare time u seem to have and do something more positve or that doesnt hurt others. I just pray that next time one of u pulls that shit or f*cks with people on bikes a cops around and gets ur ass for being a dumb f*ck or one of those bikers kicks ur ass. I'm sorry but it just shocks me that u people are out there doing shit like this..hopefully for ur benifit u'll grow up soon and u find better ways to spend ur time.

Well I was almost crying from laughing so hard on my way to get something to eat tonight. Well I'm driving down the street and I seen a few bikers here and there, but I turn on to this street and see one biker and one on a razar. I was thinking is it less point for the one on the razar cause he doesnt have as much of a chance? well all joking aside these dumb ass kids have no clue on how to judge how fast a car is coming at them, At the last minute they decide to try and cross. I was doning about 50 or so and had to swerve into the right lane to miss them. I think they got a little scared! Then my next thought was damn I almost got some points. To people of all ages on bikes use your head please. Its the same as I say about ass clowns that walk across the street when ever they feel the need to cross the street cause they have the right away, "How right can you be when you in the hospital or even dead"

5:00PM - leave work
5:04PM - en route to safeway
5:07PM - looking for hard rock candy that is circular
5:11PM - back in car with huge bag of candy
5:15PM - en route to first street, cruising SOLO [Smile]
5:23PM - on First street now, creeping up on about 45 bikers
5:31PM - intentionally cut half of them off to make right turn into parking lot causing one to slam on the front brakes and nearly flip over bike...classic shit
5:32PM - hear yelling from spandex monkeys about slow down this and that
5:33PM - they make a right turn down some unsuspecting street which is off the scheduled course
5:34PM - confused at where they are going yet very happy because they just proceeded downhill on this street
5:35PM - bikers gaining some serious mph
5:36PM - utilize my new 3.73's and get the hell down that street as fast as possible.
5:37PM - flip a bitch and start coming back at the bikers...haullin ass
5:38PM - pour the whole bag of hard candy on the ground and the games begin...

bikers start to fall, this was like a ten bike pile up to start. bad move as i thought i instigated an orgy right there in the street. all the other faggots started running up to them. i thought this was to fondle some packages but it turned out they were just helping there buddies off the ground. then, this is great...one dude gets off his bike and attempts to throw it at my car...i see this happening and floor it...DUDE...he tagged one of his buddies with the bike and the dude instantly drops. by now i'm in tears and getting the hell out of dodge....by far some classic shit. can't wait for next pedal pussy day [Smile]

Damn, I can't belive this thread is still alive! I'm glad every one liked it [Smile] Biking to work is cool, but it's not a fun ride all the time. A few mounths ago, some mother fucker turns right in front of me as I'm doing 30 mph on my bike and then I proceed to hit his fender and fly in the air and flip over a few times and take an anbulance ride. I drove for a few days after that incedent and then it was back to peddaling to work. It seems that the only time I drive the Cobra is to haul the bike to the pedal powerd races. [burnout]

this day has taken a twist for 2004. because my race car stang is not running and i sold my daily driver stang, the orginal 'drive your stang over that guy driving his bike to work day' has been upgraded to ''drive your stang or Suburban over that guy driving his bike to work day'.

I am on my way over to work on the race car this morning and will be going down many streets with bike lanes. I heard on the news that there is extra points if they are not wearing helmets [Smile]

In order to get them to procced a little bit faster when theyre stupid enough to stand infront of you during a red light, I have noticed the following works great.

First if theyre moving but not very fast give them a lil break stand and those fuckers(bikers) can really pull some decent 60's! [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Ofcourse if that doesnt do the job waterbottle upside the head or Silverado Highbeaming while laying down the horn 2 inches behind their rear tire seems to also do the job. [patriot]

OK all this is for real and I almost feel bad:

today i'm going to work on my car and i'm going down san tomas...three bike riders in full gear going down the expressway as if training for a race...i go full force towards em honking and all...one takes a dive for the team and literally drives it into a cyclone fence. this shit was tight....full on thrown onto the fence with the slow motion slide down the fence. Since I bike commute into San Francisco, I'm used to squeazing through big trucks, muni buses and dealing with drivers who honk their horns and try and cut me off. It seems that drivers who have a beef with cyclists try and intimidate them and then speed away instead of getting out of the vehicle and dealing with the situation face to face. I never knew a guy in tight spandex could be so intimidating. I hope every one responding to this tread understands that cyclists have just as much right to be on the road as motorists, so be cool, thanks [patriot]

Oh my God...I didn't even know today was the day. This will make this story that much better.

Today, I am driving home from the gym and I see this booth on the corner of a major intersection. Its like a snack shack and they are calling it an energy fill up station. I'm like whatever...I see apples, oranges, and nothing but these peddlers with rain jackets and speedos.

OK so this is where it gets funny. Some dude ran a red light in the left turn lane. However, there was a bike rider in the cross walk. The dude running the red started honking...dude on bike speeds up. Dude in car rolls by swearing out window. Dude on bike turns back to say something and his ass slips off the seat. The bike is now out of control and aiming right for this stupid energy station food stand thing. OK...the rest happened in slow motion...

Dude turns back and is trying to grab a hold of the handlebars....the energy station is getting closer...people have their backs to him at this stupid energy station thing. Homeboy grunts something to the affect of 'arggggghhhhhhhhh look ooooouuuuuuuuuuuuu' The t in 'out' was never heard because of the sound of him bailing into about 3 bikers....toppling over a table of fruit...and the tent falling down. This by far is the best bike to work day incident to date!!!

Thanks. I usually bicycle ride at least 200 miles a week because gassing up the cobra costs too much. Yeah, riding in the rain can be a bummer, but I'm used to it.

i dont see how anyone can save money by riding a bike to work. most people would not ride a bike more than 5 miles, that is about 75 cents worth of gas in a mustang. time is money, i am drunk, but i'm pretty sure that makes sense

Sounds like you need some education on the rules of the road? Bikes have as much a right to the lane as a car does. Where it is convenient and not unsafe to do so, it is suggested that a cyclist head towards the edge of a lane on roads without a bike lane. Suggested, as in "not required"

But a car has no more right to the lane than a bicyclist. This is what causes the problems between cars and bikes-- the attitudes of people like you who assume the entire lane is theirs.

Pick up a DMV handbook [Whoo Whooooo!]

But a car has no more right to the lane than a bicyclist. This is what causes the problems between cars and bikes-- the attitudes of people like you who assume the entire lane is theirs.

i dont see how anyone can save money by riding a bike to work. most people would not ride a bike more than 5 miles, that is about 75 cents worth of gas in a mustang. time is money, i am drunk, but i'm pretty sure that makes sense

no shit man they act like they can do what ever the fuck they please. Im sorry but if you can not do the posted speed limit GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY WAY.
I don't care about the speed limit but when they just drive right through stop signs that pisses me off. I've had idiots on bikes do that a lot when i have the right away to go and they should have stopped.

actually they roll through, because it takes bicylists much more effort and energy to stop and then pick up their speed again, if they come to a complete stop. but yea I hate it when you're already at a stop and they just dont even look at you,,, tell me about,, I live and drive in the city, [Mad]

nope, i know the rules of the road thank you very much, i just wish that they would realize that since i'm bigger than they are, they should be careful of where they ride, instead of acting like they own the road and can ride wherever. its not am issue of can you, it's an issue of should you. and no i don't care about any reply [patriot]

they don't roll through here they just keep going like there is no stop sign intersection. If its too much energy for them to stop then they shouldn't be on a bike.

As a former bike messenger in S.F. I can say that at least 90% of "those" riders didn't care about rules of the road. I did care but still got hit twice by cars.

if that were the case why would you suggest that bicylists need to stay out of the road? Because you happen to be in a much larger vehicle? Does that make you feel tough?

if you were a cyclists you would know there's a reason they act like they "own the road" or whatever. It is unsafe to ride at high speeds next to parked cars/gutters/road debris and traffic that merges.

You sound like the type of guy that will crowd a motorcyclist that is splitting lanes.

quote:

its not am issue of can you, it's an issue of should you.

Wrong again. Cyclists "take" a portion of the lane only when necessary for their safety. And furthermore they have every right to do so. If more drivers behave like you their will be more cyclists packin just to defend themselves from idiots in cars who don't understand the rules of the road.

It is FAR FAR more dangerous in many situations to cower in the gutter on your bike on the road then to move over about 2 feet for a variety of reasons.

and no i don't care about any reply [patriot]

Good cause here it is anyways. [patriot]

I respectully disagree. I've seen a number of cyclists in left hand turn lanes, and in the middle of traffic lanes when there were crosswalks, and ample room in the bike lanes.

Just because you have the right to do something, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. I rode my bike to school from 1st grade up until my sophmore year in high school and NOT ONCE did I EVER use the street lanes. If there was no bike lane, not enough of one, or it was clogged with parked cars or storm debris or whatever, I would use the sidewalk. Why? The answer is quite simple: The laws of physics are > the laws of man.

IMO, cyclists should not be in the street at all unless they have absolutely no other choice. However, this is typically not the case when a cyclist is in the street

That's right! Bike to work day is coming up soon. I've been Bicycle commuting for a long time and I highly recommend it. As for our local raciest KKK guy, team Solo, I would like to thank you for reminding every one of this very important event and I would also like to say that if you are proud to be a KKK dude like I am proud to be a bicycle rider, than show your KKK pride by riding a bicycle while you are wearing your KKK dress through the streets of east Oakland! Bikes take just as much a chance when they are on the road as a car does. Everyone is fair game.

What is lacking is mutual common sense.

I just assume when I'm driving any biker I come across is going to fall in front of my car, run the stop sign, run the red light, cut over to the other side of the street etc. This way I'm already prepared IF that happens.

Same as when I ride my bike. I just assume all drivers are out to kill me so I stay focused and prepared to be cut off, lane hogged, hit or whatever.

Never assume the other guy is going to do the right thing because 90% of the time they wont.

Again this all comes down to common sense and where people were in line when it was getting handed out...the front or the back.

It is unfortunate that You and team Solo have so much hate built up in side for people who have a different skin color, Hobby or life style from that of your own. There are many automotive enthusiasts and professional race car drivers who ride bicycles for fun and fitness, so I'm not alone. Also, learn to judge people on the inside instead of the outside. At the moment, the both of you may have too much hate built up inside for that to happen, but you never know. [Smile]

Sorry to jack the thread, it dont matter to me one way or the other your affiliation. I was just curious because it must either be true or a standing joke among the board. Because I have heard it from a few different folks I met up with to buy parts from.

Bicycling Gives You More Fresh Air Than A Sauna And You Can Still Sweat And Clean Your Pores
Bike Commuting Is A License To Dress Weird And Still Feel Smug
Urban Cycling Keeps You Humble
Biking Is Virtually Life Long Activity
Bicycling Can Be Enjoyed In A Wide Variety Of Topography
Cycling Can Be Enjoyed In A Wide Variety Of Climates

So what your saying then is that is basically GAY

I took the fine liberty of cutting these guys off to get onto the freeway since they decided stopping at a red light wasn't necessary.

Ok, some people, like the dude from suckass motorsports may not like cyclists or the bike to work gig, but fortunately, guys like him are in the minority! The whole bike to work day was a big success as usual! On this special day, I rode my full on carbon fiber bike that is worth more than a used 98 Cobra. [Eek!]

Did I miss bike to work day?? Fawk. I know a couple guys who enjoy driving up highway 9 in their diesel trucks. Everytime they see a pack of bikers, they romp on the accelerator and throw out a huge cloud of soot for the bikers to breathe going uphill. The look on their faces is priceless [worship]

Btw, I just read this thread from beginning to end. Classic [patriot] And where is solo's report of today's carnage? I want to hear how operation spandex went.

Brief confrontation interrupts Eugene's naked bike ride

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Police officers trying to control a mass ride of naked bicyclists decided against making any arrests after the confrontation intensified.

Roughly 100 bicyclists in various states of undress took part in the hour-long event that mimicked similar rides held in bigger cities around the world. Along the way, riders cheered, chanted and stopped traffic as they pedaled through the streets of Eugene.

Organizers of the Saturday night event did not alert Eugene police in advance, but officers quickly caught on. At one point, at least three patrol cars showed up near the main pack of cyclists.

When an officer grabbed one of them, several bicyclists surrounded the officer, shouting at him to let the rider go. After letting the first cyclist go, the officer grabbed another.

Cassandra Hurd, 21, then rammed her bike into the other rider's bike.

She told The Register-Guard newspaper she was trying to keep police from making an arrest: "We were making a statement; we weren't doing anything wrong."

An officer grabbed Hurd, who was wearing only panties, and put her on the ground, preparing to arrest her. Another officer trained his Taser on a naked man who approached the scene, but did not use the weapon.

The officers let Hurd go after the crowd chanted for them to leave her alone.

"We attempted to make arrests but the crowd turned on the two officers we had trying to handle the situation and they elected to disengage before someone got hurt," Eugene police Lt. Rich Stronach said.

Stronach said officers may not have gotten involved if the organizers had contacted police ahead of time and obeyed traffic laws.

Naked bike rides, most of them peaceful, have been staged in dozens of cities around the world in recent years. The purpose, besides fun, is to protest global oil dependency and celebrate cycling and the human body.

Portland has been host to such rides for several years. Last year's event drew more than 1,000 participants.

"It's just fun and it caught on as a novel thing to do," said Jonathan Maus, editor of bikeportland.org. "It's a sign of a good healthy bike culture."

SWEET! Was watching the ole news tonight and seems there will be crack down on these fukkers. Seems they think they own the road and a lot of people are complaining about it. I'm sure its not in all areas but certain areas. Traffic enforcement will be cracking down on such violations like impeding traffic, running stop signs and riding on the WRONG side of the road etc.... BEST PART, is that it is a MOVING VIOLATION and WILL affect ones driving record!

Which brings me to yesterday, Easter Sunday. Taking the kids the scenic route. Driving up near Calero lake and I see about 40-50 different bikes in about 10 different groups. Ok picture a 2 lane MOUNTAIN road and these SOB's are in the MIDDLE of the lane like there are cars. Some in front of you going 5 mph trying to climb a hill, while some are coming at you downhill doing 30+ in the wrong lane........

All joking aside WTF are these people thinking? Its not going to be long before someone comes around a BLIND TURN and MAULS a group of them..... But we all need to "share the road" right [Roll Eyes]

AND YES, I did Use the horn numerous times while on that drive! [Big Grin] Scared the shit out of them, its was great! Sorry it wasnt a better story I had the kids in the car, had to keep it mellow [Razz]

I understand that some people(especially the stupid mother fuckers that live in armpit communities like Stockton, Modesto,Manteca, Tracy and Excrimento and wake up super fuckin early to punch a time clock in the bay area) live too far away from work to able to bike, but everyone else who lives within a 15 mile radius of work can give bike commuting a try. This is the best i can do for u. but maybe u can turn her lazy no bike riding ass into a real gem with biking with her to work.

Blown67, I'm not a religious fuck, but I do believe in magic and that lady of yours probably has enough yeast in her pussy to supply a beer factory. I bet you are drinking some home brewed beer already. Plus, both of you fucks can benefit from the magic of bike riding, not to mention that the two of you can start riding bicycles together and become the next "biggest losers"

Some of the best race drivers in the world including F1 drivers Mark Webber and current F1 points leader Jenson Button are serious bicycle riders along with all of the world super bike riders.

Listen up you asshole, this is not your site and I am not going away any time soon so fuck you. [Big Grin] The pics from my long and forgotten car domain site are good ones for sure and I'm willing to bet that you are probably to much of a coward to post up pics of your self because you probably look like some out of shape piece of shit just like the rest of the bike hating scum bags that have replied to this thread.

Finally, let me remind every one that even though the official bike to work day is over, the bike riding to work must continue and for those of you out there that drive very short distances to work (4 miles as an example) at best, you are a lazy fuck and at worst you are probably one of the reasons why the USA is the fattest nation on earth! [Mad]

Until the next official bike to work day celebration, go ride a bike and if you don't have a bike buy one! Finally, a big "fuck you" goes out to the bicycle hating human excrement here at CAfords. [Whoo Whooooo!]

I certainly have done my fair share of bashing people on this site, but it turns out that all of the bashing I have dished out has been done in this bike to work thread and it's pieces of shit like xvt's 5.0 that deserve it.

XVT 85 5.0 , as you can see by the pics you posted up, I like to spend my time having fun in the outdoors instead of breaking into facebook accounts to find pics of other guys. [Eek!]

You are so full of shit go do a search and you will realize that every post is to insult someone, and is not only in this thread. Is funny that you think you somehow gotten to me, I in no way offended by you I actually give you some words of advise: be nicer to people, keep the cycling talk on the cycling forum that you're a member off, and don't put some much info. online. I was able to get a lot of information as you can see with in minutes I was able to find where you work, who are your friends and much more. Now I had my fun, and I just wanted to show you that talking shit is not always smart thing to do. (I'm taking the pics down)

Don't threaten me, XVT 85 50, you can go fuck yourself. Second SOME of my responses to threads on this site have been criticisms, but they have been constructive.
Third, who the fuck are you to say that I should not post a thread about cycling on this site? Are you a moderator on this site? By the way, plenty of racing drivers are bicycle riders. in fact, Every F1 driver and all of the motorcycle GP riders include cycling in their training and it's no surprise as F1 and moto GP competitors are some of the fittest people in motorsports so the bottom line is that having a bicycle thread on a car site fits, just take a look at www.cornercarvers.com.
Forth, you go on to blow a bunch of smoke by saying that I should not post a ton of personal info on line after you found a way to break into my facebook account, well in case you don't know facebook is a social networking site. XVT 85 50, you have "issues" no question about it.
[Eek!]
