So here it is:
87 LX - bone STOCK motor, Off road exhaust, 4.10's, race crank pully, and weld draglites with DR's and skinnies

Weight reduction: AC delete and ditched the sway bar

The car went 13.24 @ 103.3 [Eek!] with the Drew Mod in the driver seat and a smoked clutch. My best time was 13.5, It just goes to show how much more track time I need. I'm still in the rookie stage to say the least. However, I was finally able to perfect my burnouts - 2nd gear and rev the crap out of it!

Fantastic numbers gentlemen!

What were the 60fts?

103.3 is flying. I assume it still has SD?

My car picked up about 0.1 with the combination of a CAI kit and a shortbelt bypassing the PS, on top of what you already listed...

Icing the intake will help too.

I never tried an AFPR, but that should get you another 5rwhp if you lean it out by 1-2psi.

Best of Luck!

I believe those numbers are with a weak 1.9xx 60 ft. They just put in a new Clutch. He needs to put some miles on it and they will be back out to the track with some ice and luck. I think an AFPR and maybe a short belt might be around, maybe?

On EDIT: Yes still SD. and STOCK suspension. Only adjust ment is some cutting wheels to the springs to adjust height.

Those MT should hold a 6250 launch with a stock motor. I think 1.7X will be the norm once you guys get everything dialed in.

Keep us updated.

I don't know about the limiter dumps..... But I am sure with a good clutch and some technique polishing 1.7's are very much possible.

Ya the limiter dumps are pretty intimidating. It took me a while too. I noticed the limiter dumps always netted a better 60ft for me than 5K or 5.5K dumps. It just comes down to how much you are willing to sacrifice. The higher you launch, the greater the probability of breaking parts.

My guess is this car is going to get in the 12's leaving the line under 4k. But only time will tell. A nice low 1.7 60ft and better weather, maybe a good cool down and I think this car has it in the bag with the P/S still hooked up [Big Grin]

Those super high launches are even harder on stuff when you have stock uppers, lowers, springs, shocks/stuts, motor and tranny mount, etc etc. Things tend to move around a little. [burnout]

I think with the new clutch and Drew's driving [worship] , it will be in the 12's no problem. I'll need some time behind the wheel though to be able to pull it off.

Nice car!! The mph is certainly there, with a 1.80 you'll run a 12. I don't see a problem with the MT radials, Drew "wonderboy" shifter, and some decent D.A. Best of luck to you guys.

Wonderboy...lol

Cory's car is just a freak. Is there any known 5.0 with this few mods that has gone this fast? If it does dip into 12's with really no changes, that will be insane!

FWIW, that is the first time I have driven someone elses car in a long, long time. I was also a week out of knee surgery for my ACL replacement and muniscus repair, (had to loosen the knee brace up to push in on the peddle! [Big Grin] )

Yeah, it's pretty sad when a guy with a bum peg leg can out drive me. Oh well, I guess I just need a little (actually a crapload) more practice.

Good to see more guys killing themselves to get the most out of a "stock" stang instead of throwing all kinds of high dollar parts at their car to make up for a lack of driving skill. Put that thing on the limiter, and leave your foot on the floor... I sure hope you guys are running a drive shaft loop... and axles would be a must!!!

Luke87GT has really done his homework to get where he is with his car. I would recommend using what he has learned, and keep thrashing at it until a 12 shows up. In addition to Luke87GT's list of mods... I would recommend trying the following parts:

Long Tube Headers
X Pipe
Running 4 Quarts of Engine Oil
Aluminum Driveshaft
4 Cyl. Front Springs (cut to desired rake)
Rear Drag Springs w/Passenger Side Air Bag
MSD 6AL

If you run slicks... DON'T run tubes. This cuts down on rotating mass.

A couple additional things that work well for consistency for launch are an MSD 2 step rev limiter, and a line lock. With the 2 step, you can set a launch RPM, and an engine RPM limit with interchangable pills. Tie the launch RPM side in with the line lock. When the line lock button is depressed, the 2 step will only allow that set RPM to be reached. Once released, it goes to the higher RPM. With our car, we launch at 6500, and set the high side to 6900 or 7000. A shift light is another helpful component. These parts won't make any more power... but will help the driver become more consistent, by not having to worry about controling RPM with his foot, and lets you concentrate on the tree.

Most of these parts are cheap , and always on this board for sale. I have a few of these items off my Stocker that I am looking to get rid of. Let me know if you guys are interested.

I look forward to seeing you guys at the track next season. My NHRA Stocker 88 Stang is almost back together... Shooting for the record at 11.55 @ 115.

Best of luck to you guys!!!
