How long is your existing cable? 1.5 feet shouldn't make much of a difference. Most of the loss is at the connections. Sand the surfaces clean and remove the dust. Use a fresh quality start washer on the bolt that will bite into the ring terminal. If you're worried about 1.5 feet, get one size larger cable. Welding cable is flexible and easy to route.

I also had to extend my starter cable about 1.5 ft when I did my wire tuck over 15 years ago and what I did was go to a boat shop that carries the size cable I needed to have one full length cable and had them make up both ends of the cable for me.
The reason for a boat shop is because they use the same size cable for all there hook ups for trolling motors and such.

I thought your username looked familiar but wasn't sure.
You should have it more than covered with 2ga welding wire.
