What setups is everyone running for power steering in these classics. I don't want a rack and pinion and wonder if there is any other options. The stock setup just feels too sloppy

i have my stock still was thinking about having it rebuilt but just may go borgeson p/s setup heard they are a lot better than stock and dont have the leaking issues plus you don't lose turning radius like with rack and pinions systems

Looks like that's the route I'll be going. Just might have to change my header setup.

I'm running the Borgeson unit in my mustang and cougar.

http://www.borgeson.com/

I really don't have much complaints for the price. Still keeps the stock turn radius.

I've got a rack and pinion in my '68. I bought it before the Borgeson setup came out. If I had to do it again, I'd probably go the Borgeson route.

flaming river makes great quick ratio boxes, the boxes is were most of the slop comes from, then the ram and control valve, if its not a rack an pinion then just get new ori, the ori stuff if in good shape is not sloppy, prob a sloppy box an control valve. good luck, expensive either way.

The newest power steering option is the electric assist like the new cars today. There are vendors offering kits.

Seems like this is still way over priced

There's an electric motor on the steering column. It provides assistance to a manual box setup. Most new cars have this type of power assist now. Seems pretty slick.

if your running the stock pump looks like you gotta change that too(are stock 70 pump doesn't put out enough pressure). i've been reading the headers could be ok but looks some use adj engine mounts RON Morris and supposedly you have an inch clearance but they say the next issue is the stock zbar setup but cjponyparts have one for $55 to fix that.

I'm currently running a 5.0 pump and had some new lines made to make it work. Not sure if that might complicate things

I have the stock system in my 67. 9/10, if the system is feeling sloppy its because your steering box bolts or ram bolts are coming loose.

I ended up welding my relocation bracket for my headers to the car so the bolts stop backing out.
