Topic: Any one got a good guess im guessing stock

i got this point when im on the freeway the rpms at 100mph are at 3k is that right for the stock 2.73's?? just wanting to cheak with out opening the rear end and counting teeth. but i do want 3.73's in the future. i think they are stock what you all think?? its my first 50

You can put the car up on stands and count the number of turns of the driveshaft in relation to one rotation of the wheel. Less than 3 rotations would be a 2.73 and just over that would be a 3.08 and so on and so forth. [ November 23, 2006, 01:10 AM: Message edited by: iceman302 ]

whats yours run at at 100?? im guessing my speedo works after that crazy carfax its got 300k on it im guessing

I couldn't tell you. There should also be a tag on the rearend that will indicate what gearset if they have never been changed. I'd count the rotations if you're questioning what gears might be in the rearend.

If you're going to have the cover off, take a look at the ring gear. It will be stamped on it if they are Ford gears.

thamks john a by the way i almost got all the parts i got the control arms just waithing on the shocks i still got to get the sway bar piece shooot me a pm with a price for you to install it fr mee bro i will bring some beer to. shoot me a quote on some 3.73 gears install. i supply the parts you put them on thanks bro

most autos have 2.73s and most sticks have 3.08s....

Actually its the other way around. Some of the autos also have 3.27s.

just buried the guage at 140 did not catch the rpms i have no interior lights... also no break lights haha

if you were going 100 mph at 3000 in overdrive with a t5 you have 3.27's

Then you have 2.73's. To fit 275's in the back you would have to roll the fenderwells and remove your quadshocks.

ya cause i been criusing at 100 and the rpms are always at 3000k seems like im racking up miles hella fast to. i wonder if the trans in it know is set up for some gears say 3.73's but i really got 2.73's that little plastic gear in the trans is what im trying to say
