Hey Guys,
I guess I got my point across to people! I e-mail the City Manager of Pleasanton who forwarded it to the Chief of Police. The guy e-mailed me back saying that the way the cop got in my face wasn't called for and that he'll look into it since other officers didn't think I was causing trouble or noise. Hell Yeah!!!!!

Hey Matt,
Yes it was that easy!

Brian - the City Manager's office, who received your email forwarded your
complaint to me. These car shows put a tremendous burden on us. We do
aggressively work them, as problems are frequent. At this particluar show
we had 4 cars stolen - so we try very hard to be vigilant. That being said
- it is no excuse to be rude, nor to target someone as you assert. I have
asked Captain Dave Radford to assign a Lieutenant to contact you and see if
we can determine just what occurred, and what Sergeant Dunn's thinking was.

I assure you that we will look at the matter objectively. It is our desire
to treat everyone with dignity and respect - and if we made a mistake - you
can expect an apology.

Here's the reply I wrote back....

Dear Officer Neal,
I appreciate the prompt response and I thank you for that. I really
don't want to get Officer Dunn in any trouble for doing his job but I just
didn't think the way he confronted me was necessary. I understand the
problems that are associated with carshows and believe me when I say that
when there's a lot of young people, there's bound to be trouble. When I
arrived at 7:30 am, I immediately asked other participants around me for
permission to play my stereo since that's part of what I'm showing my car
for, the stereo system. None of them declined since it's actually noisy at
our spot anyway due to the trailer truck generator that was running all day
approximately 10 ft. away from us. There was a country station booth about
15 ft. away as well, who we asked permission too. Officer Neal, I'm a 26
year old man, a professional who works for a computer company, and I know
better than to disregard other people's right to be there, that's why I asked
permission. I also worked with Newark and Fremont P.D.
before so I have a high respect for officers of the law. I've actually
contacted other car clubs and they've informed me that the younger
participants were asked to move into a section far from everyone else. For
whatever reason it was, I'm sure it's for the better interest of the older
participants and the safety of keeping the younger people together to prevent
problems. The other point I'd like to bring up is that other officers and
security personnel were actually coming over to look at the car and said
nothing bad about it. Some even complemented me as the music was playing! I
believe that since I was surrounded by older participants and wasn't with the
younger crowd, wherever they were at, I stuck out like a sore thumb. I would
have gladly moved where they were if I was notified about it but I wasn't.
I'm not looking for any apologies since there's no harm done but I just felt
that I had to bring this issue to someone's attention. Again, I greatly
appreciate the response and that alone leaves
me content.
Thank You,
Brian Raimundo

...and this is what I got back again. It feels damn good to prove a cop wrong!

Brian - thanks for being understanding. We will still follow-up with
Sergeant Dunn - no one is out to get anybody in trouble, but people like you
who are willing to give us feedback are more welcome than you might think -
It gives us a good opportunity to take a look at how we come across to the
public...and when appropriate, adjust how we do business. We will give you
some feedback after we talk to the officers involved.

Thanks again for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

Wow...

I still would like to maintain my belief that Pleasanton cops are pretty much @$$holes.

Although, I have heard that as of late Livermore is taking the lead in the "Tickets Given" category.
