I'd buy 2 or 3 cars like this one for $2500 tomorrow.

Exactly... Jan youre an idiot for that post and for once I dont agree. That car is very clean, and no offense Casey, you shoulda known better to deal with such a new member with such a low post count.
And to the cry baby.... you didnt know your cousins and your mommy were calling him until you saw this post??? Ya bullshit. *edit* your profile says your occupation is "auto tech" so you cant fix a simple issue like a starter? Oh or notice any problems while inspecting it yourself?!?!? This post is seriously still going?
Classic "buyers remorse". Got home, caught flack from the 'rents that it was ugly and a POS due to the cosmetic appearance, and now wants out of it, due to what he spent.
Suck it up kid, deal with it.

I mean, I guess I can sorta see where the kid is coming from. As I've gotten older, I look back on some of the stuff I did/bad car decisions I've made, etc and laugh.
But, speaking of laughing, I was trying not to laugh when you told Casey to "man up," and followed that by saying, "Well, my momma never told me you called." HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Tough shit dude, I hope this is a good take-home lesson for ya. It'll be worth it if you learn...

Cobra racer is right, maybe not $2500, but $7900 was a ripoff for the poor kid. I bought a car that was nearly immaculate and had more power and the entire MM catalog on it for $10.5K back when the economy was still good.
This car has couple decent parts. It still has the four link in the back so it's still going to handle like shit when pushed really hard. I'm not talking about cruising around in a canyon but actually pushing it to the limit of adhesion at a track which is one of the selling points the seller used. It still has the over weight k-member with the stock crapola front geometry along with an iron headed motor sitting on top of it. I hope the kid has a good dentist or kidney specialist because 500lbs/375lbs coil over springs for a car that sees any street use is ridiculous. The brakes are overkill (cobra PBRs are more than enough brake for 99.9% of people on this board) and don't even work properly. This is perhaps the single most important safety feature on the car and they don't work properly! To me "clean" is a description of the whole car. This, my fellow enthusiast, is not a clean car.

I just got the car back, and in the kids defense the brakes were sticking pretty bad. I'm not sure what changed between now and the day I sold it...maybe a combination of the brake rod adjusted out a hair too far and the brakes not being broken in yet, but they're definitely sticking now. It just bums me out it got driven so much with sticking brakes cause now I'm gonna have to buy pads and rotors before I can sell the parts.

I see your line of thinking, and do tend to agree. However, the value of an item is determined by the amount someone is willing to pay for it. Were someone to have offered $8500, well, that's what the coupe would have been worth, like it or not.

I don't like it, people should do more research and think things through before buying. But, it is true

I don't care what you say about my car...I didn't think it was particularly "clean", but it was a beast to drive and had a wicked stance.
And my car was easily worth $8k...do you want to know why? Because anybody could have purchased it, and spent an 8-hour day in their garage blowing the car apart, and sold the parts for about $10k. Any car that has the potential to turn you a $2k profit if purchased and parted out is, at least in my opinion, "worth it".

I bought the car back from the guy for $6500. I felt bad for the kid. I would have probably even given him more if I'd had it, but I had to pay rent.
But sadly, the brakes on the car are toast, cause the kid didn't stop driving when he felt them dragging. I will need to buy new pads and rotors to be able to sell the brakes. [ July 12, 2010, 11:46 PM: Message edited by: Casey90GT ]

Well the rears are fine. It looks like only the fronts were dragging. But he drove it like that for so long that he cracked the rotors.

I can't believe what I am reading here.
When you buy a used car, you have to assess the condition for yourself. If you are not in the position to do that, most mechanics will do it for you for under $100 (money well spent).
Personally, if it were me, I would tell the buyer to pound sand and get lost. Holding a car for several days and then expecting to get a refund is outrageous.
However, by taking the car back, it almost appears like a guilty admission of misrepresentation of the condition of the car.
Complete mess. I hope both sides learned a lesson here.
Best of luck [ July 13, 2010, 02:12 AM: Message edited by: Luke87GT ]

You know...I bought the brake kit from Baer, and it supposedly came complete, ready to install. Even though I've done tons of brake jobs, I still looked over the instructions, did the install, and everything seemed fine. I drove the car myself, and I drove the car with the new buyer, and the brakes performed flawlessly every time. I don't know why they started to drag...it seems like it came out of nowhere, because the brakes did not drag when I drove the car. But, feeling bad for the kid...not guilty, but just bad, because I'm young enough to remember being young and impulsive, I offered to buy the car back for a fair price, especially considering that a $2000 brake kit was trashed while the car was in his possession.
I guess there are some tough critics on this site. But I think I was more than fair. [ July 13, 2010, 02:45 AM: Message edited by: Casey90GT ]
