so sick! theres something about green old schools that attracts me. I'm still not feeling the wheels 100%, but I'd like to see how it all comes together once the paint and body is all complete. Great work!

Thanks Syde, they say green is the new blue and root beer brown is the new red. I almost painted the car a particular shade of brown, but I'm glad I went with the green. The nice thing is wheels unbolt and new ones can be bolted in their place...lol. The rest of the car has always been my priority and I think it's all coming along a lot better than I imagined.
Here's some pics of the stripes in progress....

WOW.
I'll let the pics do the talking. There are a few with a "flash" and a few without, amazing how this color changes from green to silver to gold in different lighting.

<<I was thinking about a regular gold at one time. This is a gold/green color. If you look back at the pictures of the door jams and and under-trunk area you can see what it looks like in the right light. Once it's cut and polished you will also see the gold more. These pics all came out a little light but you can see the gold effect on one spot around the back of the passenger/rear quarter panel near the masking tape.
I can't wait until it's all together and I can get some pics of it in all the different angles and lighting, etc.

<<That was definitely the idea six, I'm glad it worked out the way we planned. It was a bit of a challenge getting them right as the green was so dominant. It's the same green paint as the rest of the car with black tint added to the base coat. I want to say they said it was 10:1 green to black. Weird how the black brings out gold and silver in the paint. [ March 26, 2011, 06:33 PM: Message edited by: bwkelley76 ]

Thanks 68!
Hey Six, I forgot to ad that MANY times I was told I should put white stripes on it, even by the painter, and I stuck to my guns and went with my vision. I've realized not everyone can see things the way we can in our own minds. I'm just glad it turned out right.

Brandon have you figured on a wheel for the fastback yet? I ask because, I saw the chrome wheels that were on the car and was thinking that it was way too much chrome for the "vision" of the car. I'm thinking that a five spoke torq thrust type of wheel, would be the right vision to go with. A subdued center and spokes, just like your stripes, and either a polished or even chromed lip. This way, the wheel combination will work to compliment the paintwork rather than overpower it. Even three piece BBS rims with blacked out or darkened centers would work.
These are 10 spoke 67 gt500's but I think you get the idea
If the center were darker here...

<<<Thanks for the pics and the video. That Cobra is awesome. I've been considering other options on the wheels. The torque-thrusts are over-done but I do like the dark gray aspect. I think gloss black would look too invisible. Flat black might be an option though, but unless I have a LOT of brakes to offset the black its kindof pointless. I've also considered black-chrome clear/black coating on the wheels I already have. The Halibrand cobra wheel is also over-done. We'll see how these look with the paint, the scoops, and all the trim. I do agree that a darker wheel would look better. Also these are not chrome, they are polished aluminum so they can be painted and dulled-down a bit without too much trouble. For now they will clear the brakes I want to put on the car and will give me something to drive the car on.
