Took some time....but I finally finished Matt's heads. Here's some before/after pics:
The intake is left rough to promote atomization....it's also been matched to the HCI intake manifold....which also has some nice port-work done to it. [Smile]

Matt's portwork is above & behond what we normally do....at least on the exhaust side. Then again, most of our portwork is done for blower setups....

We're shooting for as close to 400RWHP as we can get on motor. (once Matt gets a better exhaust *hint* *hint*)

Matt, I am VERY sad to hear that Griggs STILL is causing you not to be able to drive your car. I like John Griggs, he has gone out of his way to really help me a few years ago. I would choose their suspension over any other, but BECAUSE of your story, I would never choose them for an engine build and would STRONGLY suggest someone else take their car elswhere for ENGINE work as well.

Please do not just "chalk it up" as a loss, you deserve some of your money back atleast. There has to be some middle ground.

Goodluck [patriot]

those are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hot! [patriot] i need to get my 2001 cobra in the shop to get engine work like that.....from what i know HCI will charge about $4000 for an entire engine buildup including forged internals, heads ported/polished, etc....they claim 375rwhp/tq n/a on the 4v. that would be SWEEET!

400 rwhp from b-heads and a hci intake? Good luck, you might be the first person in history to make that kind of power with b-heads [Razz] [Razz] I don't think you even need to port the intake side on those heads as is. They are just too big for all motor.

Should of gone 03 cobra heads and fr00 intake. [patriot]

We shall see. To date our best B-headed N/A combo put out 370RWHP...on a stock stroke with re-ground cams. We've got a good shot at beating this #. [Big Grin]

Looks good Shaun. That car is gonna be wicked. What cams and valve train you running in that thing? I am guessing on of your intakes as well. You definatly do some top notch stuff. here are my 03 heads flowed 323 int @ .500 224 exhaust velocities were real high on the exhaust side which is what I was shooting for for the turbo head.. The n/a port was really nice as well.. I think you guys will hit your number gonna need a nice size header on that beast.. -
Here is b head that I am did for the J.S.R test car hope to go 10s n/a with the stock short block soon.

B heads are not the best choice for a n/a setup but we have not have had a problem with them going down the track to my knowledge there is no one going as fast as the j.s.r test car with as little hp. So I guess it is a toss up between quick time on the track or saying you make high dyno numbers. I for the last few weeks I have been playing a lot on the flow bench with all types of 4.6 4v heads and the 03 heads are by far best stock for stock for a n/a motor the fr500 are good as well with a smaller runner but have a smaller exh. port which is fine cause the flow just as well when ported. I am currently filling the floors of the b head on the primary port the secondary port on the b head has a decent short side and I think this will really benefit the head by reducing runner volume and gaining flow..

Damn your shit comes out lookin' pretty Dave!
I just don't have the patients to spend the kind of time it takes to get them looking like that. [Frown]
I like keeping them rough on the intake side....but it would be nice to have a mirror finish on the exhaust. Pretty ports sell heads. [Big Grin]

We've still got those B-heads you ported sitting at the shop. They look exactly like the B-head in the link. & they put out great power too! (I believe Ryan made 460RWHP with 10-11lbs of boost non-intercooled with those & stock cams.)

I sandblast the intake ports now it makes them super uniform with no scratches and it leaves a nice surface.. I would like to put ribblets on my heads but that is like a achient chinese secret according to the wiston cup guys. Ryan heads where the one supposed to go on my car which was when I was gonna be N/A and N20 so the are a good n/a head on a blower car I have no doubt in my mind that if they came back off I can make more power with them. I think the intake on his car I ported the lower and jim did the upper work his stock manifold was by far the worst cast piece i have seen so i think he will be making some great numbers here soon . We are setting up the new mondellos flow bench and that thing is gonna be really helpful when it comes to port mapping these heads..
