Its obvious that my 96,000mi 94's original shocks are total shit.I've taken drives in cars with bilsteins shocks/struts, very nice but, theyre really expensive(on a really tight budget!)I Know that the Tokicos illuminas are cheeper and adjustable(for the occasional drag race as well as road race)WHICH ONES DO I GET?

Koni Yellows, for my vote

Another Koni Yellow vote here too. I have them watched up with my H&R supersports and the ride is good. They are plently adjustable too.

illuminas are about 499+ shipping right?

i got my bilsteins for 460+ tax. came at 500 even. i still haven't put them on, due to im waiting on my cc plates. [Mad]

but i was thinking about the illuminas. and i really don't need adjustability. i would set it once, and forget it.

koni sa's are only like 580+ shipping i think. and the da's are too much. i heard good things about the da's, but average talk about the sa's.

In my girls car(00GT VERT) the koni yellows are damm hard even when set on full soft.. I have never had them to full firm but i bet its hard as FUK...If you want any kind of drag strip traction go w/ the tokico w/ the 1 setting for drag mode.thats what I would do ..

It all depends on your driving style but needless to say, whatever your driving style, koni yellows are the way to go..

And BTW, no matter how LOW your car is, koni's will take care of the smooth ride..Ask Chris (stoked) if you don't believe me, he took a ride in mine after we put em in..

Im very happy with the Bilstein's that came in my 03. Not super harsh, but very effective.

I’m on my third week with Steeda sport springs, Tokico Illumina shocks and Griggs Racing caster/camber plates, and I couldn’t be happier. The 5 setting is very stiff, but the car holds the corners like it never has before. The 3 setting is pretty much like stock but a little tighter.

bilsteins get my vote. german made.....enuff said. plus, they give u a great ride, stiff, and very flexable when needed. great shocks. they get my vote.

If you're on a budget maybe the Tokico Premiums. Non-adjustable, about the same as the adjustables set on "3" (middle setting).
No, they're not Bilsteins, but they're about half the price.
I use them on my Foxbody with Eibach Prokits.

I love my tokicos, i got all 4 for 320 shipped. Like 99% of people don't know how to adjust their shocks/struts to benefit their cornering so why waste your money? Anyways i vote koni if you can afford.

I love my bilsteins!!! My car is being set up for road racing.

got my bilsteins on, and i love them. my ride is pretty stiff, but thats due to my 620/260 specific springs. if i went progressive, it would be less stiff. but i would go with these bilsteins anyday of the week.

Koni Yellows get my vote. Original equipment in the 95R and worth it!

bilsteins are great. they were stock in my tahoe, and what a ride.

got tokiko 5-ways out back in my stang now, and I thought '3' was the drag race setting? on '1' I'd be afraid of waaaay too much rear squat.

Go to shox.com and get their number and then ask them for a price quote. They said 489 for all for me.

IMO the Tokicos are more streetable but still usable for the track. My $0.02

Would I want the sport handing bilsteins or the race handling bilsteins? there is a $130 difference in the two. My car is slightly lowered with my steeda springs also. Thanks

Anybody know?

Posted by Blown Mystic (Member # 476) on :

the race will be a much harsher ride. depends on the roads where you drive the car.

Does anybody have the bilstein shocks on their 99+ GT"s with lowering springs?
