Thought maybe there may be some Bay Area guys who may be interested in getting their cars on the track. Please email me if interested. I do these events every few months and would like to get a few more participants.

Hi folks, the time has come again for a day of activity at Thunderhill. Pretty much the same premis as before, show up, drive and have fun. Will be running two groups again, experienced with open passing and the other group with limited passing zones. Full course (3 miles),No chicanes and over the top of turn 5. Thunderhill is working with me in regards to financing and such, but I do need to get them some money soon to hold the day in reserve. I will be mailing out the info to people in a few weeks, so please do send in your check as soon as possible. I will need to have 30-35 drivers for this event. Here are the basic details:

When>>>>March 28th
Where>>>ThunderHill Raceway Willows CA
Website> www.thunderhill.com
Cost>>>>$225
Send Check to: Stan Brown
4927 Ridgeview Dr
Antioch CA 94531

Please email me with any questions at sbnbpbsb@hotmail.com
Feel free to ask others that you may know, but please keep in mind that we pride ourselves in holding a very unrestricted event and need everyone to behave responsibly.

Hey Brian, I was planning on making the one this Sunday, in fact, I drove by the location on Arthur Rd today. Saw a nice looking white stang parked there. I should be able to make the 24th if it gets moved.

Look forward to seeing all on the track. You will have a blast.

I would like to go but dont know if I can make it. How long of a drive is it from the bay area?

Posted by Stan (Member # 890) on :

Youl Luz>>>my next event is not until Oct 31st. There are other groups and clubs who have track days scheduled through out the year. I am participating in 11 track days other than my own.

ihatethesens>>>Thunderhill is about a two hour drive from my house in Antioch. It is about an hour north of Sacramento.

Stan,
What is required? As in clothing, helmet (SNELL), gloves, etc?

Posted by Stan (Member # 890) on :

Brian, you will need a Snell 90 rated or newer helmet and long pants. Gloves are nice to have, although I actually prefer not to use them. I also recommend a closed face helmet, especially in a cenvertible. I am mailing out the tech form, waiver and schedules on wed, 20th. You will find plenty of helpful people at the track. See you on the 28th!

PS I do have a couple spots left if you know anyone who may be interested.

Brian,

I went to Frey Racing in Milpitas (349 Sango Court) (408) 956-3900 and picked up my helmet. I got a Bieffe open-face helmet for ~$240 including tax. IT is SA2000 rated and I think it is kevlar or carbon fiber, so it's lighter than a fiberglass helmet. They had several helmets there, both open-face and full-face. It's right near the Great Mall so it's not to far from your place.

I'm going! I can't wait for next Thursday to get here. It's killing me.

I just hope I don't embarrass myself to bad.

I just received my helmet and gloves from them. I was worried about fit, but I guessed correctly on my size.

Wolfie351,

Which car are you taking? The 351W equipped with Griggs suspension and Baer Brakes sound like a fun ride.

Hey guys,
We should all caravan together. I'm meeting up with Kev at 7pm on the 27th. You guys interested?

Posted by Stan (Member # 890) on :

I won't be able to head up that direction until around 9pm. I will be at the Best Western Golden Pheasant in Willows. I am doing an event at T-hill on the 26th also, so I will probably leave the car at the track for the 28th.

I'm planning on going up with Kev also, so I guess we will be going up together.

Defenitely taking the '85

So, is everyone staying at a hotel on the 27th? If so, which one? Not sure I can go up there the night before though. What time do we need to be at the track? If it's early, I just might have to go up the night before.

I would suggest going up the night before if at all possible. The day starts pretty early. I can't imagine having to drive 3 hours and then try to race all day. ouch! It's going to be bad enough driving home at the end of the day.

I second that. We usually show up at the track at about 7:30AM to start prepping our cars. You would have to leave at about 4-5AM to get there in time for the driver's meeting and then prep your car. The Golden Pheasant is the best deal at about $58, and then getting to the track rested is better for you, and your car...
