(88 mustang gt) One problem after another with this car!!! I still haven't figured out the no start whenhot and now this! Well fuse #18 has the gauges and low fluid level module and keeps blowing. History of what was done... installed electric fans an used the ignition power from the coolant level sensor which is right by the battery. Fans worked fine no problem then Friday night I'm looking around under the hood for possible issues for the no start when hot and this started happening. Anyone have an idea where to start looking?

Well, I'm pretty sure you just answered your own question. You can't power fans off of a circuit designed for a 20A fuse. Fans generally draw 30+ amps at startup. That'll blow a fuse every time. Also, it looks like the ignition system is part of that circuit, so that could be why it's not starting.

Electric fans need to be wired through a relay. The main power feed should come directly off the battery with it's own in-line fuse. You can use your #18 circuit as the 12v switched feed for the relay but not as the main power feed.

I did say this was the ignition power. That wire feeds the fan controller

My boy diagnosed and fixed the issue. He pretty much looked at the wiring harness and traced the short to a part of the harness that was exposed to metal. repaired the exposed wires and baamm!!! problem fixed.
