I recently purchased my 93 Mustang Gt that has a 347 in it. I drove it around for a couple days without any issues. Then the motor started surging when at idle, also it dies when I put it in reverse. Today when driving it to work it started lunging a bit with surges (I need to bleed the brakes) and it is an automatic right now as well.
I replaced the Idler air control module since the previous owner siliconed the plug to the broken plug on the Idler control. I also put a new battery in since the one it had was crap.

Any ideas or has anyone had this happen to them?

Did all this start after the battery change? If so you may have accidently fried the computer to an extent. Just a possibility

No I changed the battery after. I thought maybe there wasn't enough juice to keep everything going.

between 500-1000 gradual surge until starts to lunge a bit then 500-around 1300 once or twice then dies.

See if you can turn up the idle and get it to stay at 1K RPM.

I had the same problem on mine. Jon Duncan (Duncan Motors) had adjusted my tps sensor and adjusted the butterfly valve in the throttle body. Maybe start there so you can at least drive the car/hear it idle so you can figure it out a lil more if it persists.
