I just put my car back together today after doing a rear main seal job, meaning I took off the tranny, clutch, flywheel, driveshaft, bellhousing, exhaust, etc. But I just went and ran her and the only leak it has now seems to be coming from the back of the tranny at the input shaft for the driveshaft. Seems to be leaking out of that rubber grommet thing that goes over the end of the driveshaft where it plugs into the tranny. Anyone know whats causing this and how to make it stop leaking?

What he said. Make sure the slip yoke is in good condition meaning there is no grind marks

If this doesn't work it could be your crossmember not holding the trans straight.

If it's bad (bushings, bent etc)

For some reason my exhaust touches the drivers side of the crossmember. Makes a tapping noise when its cold out sometimes too. I thought it was a rod knock the first time I heard it. Would a bad tranny mount cause this?

Normally when it leaks from the tail shaft it is the output seal. But a worn out tail shaft bearing or yoke can be chewed up and also the seal as well. Make sure there is no up and down play in the yoke when installed in the tranny and check the yoke for excessive wear.Push the yoke up and down to check that for excessive play. And make sure there is no worn out spots in the yoke in the bearing or seal area. It can also leak from the plug in the back of the yoke. I have seen this happen many times. Guys will reseal the tail and install a new output bushing and have it leak again. So take a good look at where it is leaking from and check the plug at the end of the yoke. They can and in some cases do leak from there. Good luck.
