3 out 5 times when I initially shift into 4th it immediately pops out. Once its in it stays in and doesn't pop out, only occurs when shifting.

Any ideas as to why this is happening??

could be a stretched clutch cable...not engaging pressure plate all the way..

You might need a new clutch cable or your lock and detent balls in the transmission need to be replaced
