My moms car started making this noise yesterday. In this video it sounds like rod knock, but in person it sounds more like a scratching/scraping. It sounds like it's coming from the top of the engine on the driver side away from all belts. To me it sounds like it's coming from the valve train, but as with any engine noise it's really hard to tell where it's coming from. I have seen and heard many rod knocks and this doesn't sound like a rod knock to me. Car has 146k miles, & is driven very gingerly. Regular oil changes. No CELs illuminated, oil light is not on.

Thanks in advance.

From what I'm seeing it looks like the camshaft synchronizer
