i try posting this on some dodge/neon fourms with no luck so i thought i would try ca-fords


ok this all started about a week ago when it was running alittle rough and i got code p0301 and p0300 so i change plugs and wires not much of a difference and you can still feel it miss at idle.

and heres where i really messed things up, i take the wires off the plugs and put a old plug on a wire and hold it to the valve cover(ground) to check if they are getting spark and i left the other wires still conected to the coil and one of the wires i wasn't using ARCHED to the fuel rail ,then i put all the wires back on the plugs and go to start it again and its 2x as worse as before IT WONT EVEN IDLE unless you keep the rpms up,so i go check the codes and now i get code P2305 - Ignition Coil Secondary Number 2 Circuit Condition.

so i bought a new coil pack today and no change at all,i also checked all the fuses in the fuse box unless theres a hidden one somewhere and swapped around the relays no luck.

im out of things to try now any input its appreciated

car is a 2004 neon base 5 speed btw.

changed the cam and crank sensor today with no change.

I've seen this plenty of times in my shop

MOST of the time it's the PCM. Remember the PCM controls the ground on the coil. The PCM will get burnt out or negative wire will get corrosion.

Reflash or used PCM

I've also seen a few times the wires come away from the connector. But sounds like PCM to me

You can try and test ground coming from the PCM to the coil. Very time consuming trying to narrow it down. My price for PCM is $90-$100 from LKQ.

crank or whatever sensor wont kill one coil pack, voltage test each lead to each coil, computer runs those. if u got one thats dead, above is correcty.

i just checked the voltage on the coil there are 3 wires 2 are 13.1-13.2 volts and 1 is 11.1 volts thats with the key turned on,is that correct?

tested spark today and 1 and 4 are firing but cylinders 2 and 3 are not sparking at all!

and to recap
new coil
new wires
new plugs
new cam sensor
new crank sensor
checked fuses and switched around relays

only thing that could be wrong is the pcm or wiring harness

if anyone knows anything else to eliminate thatd help me out thanks

so there are 3 wires going to my coil 2 are suppose to be negative/ground flashes from the ecm to control the packs,and the 1 other one is suppose to be key on (asd relay) positive/hot but heres the weird thing it shows Negative 4.5 volts so it is grounding out some where.

you were right it was the computer
