hey everyone I just rebuild my motor with gt 40 heads and cobra upper and lower and it sounds like I have a rod knock I replaced the lifters the pushrods and added 1.7 roller rockers and a e303 cam and it still knockin the motor was ran with out oil pressure before the build I was told that it was the bottom end but I have solid oil pressure and im just not sure any input would be grately appreciated

1.7 and e cam you might have ptv clearance issues..

maybe i should put my stock ones back on and see if that helps.how much damage do you think i Might have done if that is the problem i only test drove it around the block a couple times

Did anyone read his post the engine was ran without oil pressure before the build, its most likely a lower end problem. Sounds like you know the rod knock sound you probably have one if you ran it without oil pressure and didnt fix it

@ lxjames i took the valve covers off and didnt see any beauty marks i took the baffle off anyway just in case.and i fixed the oil pump with a hv oil pump and new shaft and my oil pressure id very strong and dosent drop off if i hold it at 2grand ive never heard wat. Bottom end sounds like when they go bad so im just really not sure wats going thanks every one that has replied i really appriciate all the advice

If your running a high volume pump with a stock pan etc you probably have no oil in the bottom end. HV pumps are meant for high capacity pans and hi-po motors and what have you. A stock 302 with hci has no need for a HV pump. Switch it out and get back to us

post a video to youtube so we can hear the sound. If the engine lost oil pressure before and you didn't rebuild the bottom end (at minimum the bearings) its going to have the same problem my friend.

so I change the rocker arms back to the stock ones and it quited it down a bunch but the engine still has a knock @lxjames I didn't know that and was told bye a couple different people to run the hv oil pump but wat you said makes sence but that's not a job im looking forward to lol it was a pain being the motor is still in the vehicle anyway ima try and figure out how to post a video this week so you all can hear it and thanks again everyone

how thin of oil are you running? also i've had clearance issues with those valve covers and 1.7 rockers. i've seem them tap the baffles.

Im runnin 15 40 oil and i changed the rockers back to stock
