So while starting an 88 5.0 the pump primes for 2 seconds then turns off. The line holds fuel pressure and while you crank it uses that fuel in the line to start. Once running the pump turns on and keeps the engine running.

My other 88 5.0 has the same 2 sec prime but this time while you crank it the pump runs while cranking and the car floods. I need to disable the fuel pump to get the engine cleared enough to start.

New injectors
255 pump
New pump relay
Swapped ecu
New regulator.

Still same problem. So how does this car know its cranking to trigger the pump. If you remove the trigger wire on the starter relay and cycle the key as if you were starting it the pump stays off.

Check your ground in the back of the motor. Make sure its good. Also I would double check the fuel pump wiring . I had a similar issue.

the fuel pump receives its signal from the pick up in the distributor. maybe the pick up is rusty or worn causing a false signal to the ecu.
