I need some input, I'm looking to do a 393w, but the pistons im looking at (probe 15cc dished pistons) with my FAC190 with 64cc would give me a compression ratio of 10:1. What are your thoughts of 10:1 compression with a turbo, say 15psi?

P.S, pistons and rods will be forged.

Posted by 5.0 LsX (Member # 10017) on :

it will be fine as long as you have the octain or meth

Posted by 70mach351 (Member # 7528) on :

e85!

Posted by racsirx (Member # 1710) on :

You should be fine, I am doing a 347 with 10:1 compression and 6lbs of boost with pump gas.

Cam selection makes all the difference.

Posted by AR_Stang (Member # 10223) on :

I have a F cam now, my just sell it and go custom. How about some c16?

Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on :

I'd definitely go with a custom cam, for fuel if you can get ahold of E-85 I'd use that.

Posted by AR_Stang (Member # 10223) on :

I'd do E85 but nearest pump is about 90 miles away [Frown]

Posted by Greasy (Member # 5258) on :

C16 is pretty expensive, it'd almost be worth driving the 90 miles and filling up a 55 gallon drum to keep in the garage.

Posted by racsirx (Member # 1710) on :

I like C16 but the price is crazy, I would run E85 if I didn't have to sell my 83lbs injectors and my classic F.A.S.T. to run it, to get to my power level. F303 cam works good with a turbo and one guy on theturboforums.com made a 1000hp with a F303 but a custom cam would be better.

Run water meth.

Trentk made 1000 to the tire with an f cam.

Posted by turbo50 (Member # 6700) on :

Cometic will make 50 tho compressed headgaskets too.

You can even machine a lil height off the pistons

Posted by AR_Stang (Member # 10223) on :

Looks like the guy sold the kit i was interested in, oh well i'll just save up for a 408 down the road. I guess i'm going to run what i have. What do you guys think of a rebuilt stock F4TE shortblock with FAC 190, fcam, gt40 lower/Cartech upper with a t76 15psi, with meth?

I think that is a great combo but run about .035 first and second ring gap and remember the F4T 351 rollers use a different ring pack.

Perfect Circle part number is 41497CP

or Hastings number 2m4346

the ring pack is 1.5mm first and second ring, and the oil ring is 4.0mm

How about bearings? Which ones would you guys recommend?

Posted by Secnd2nun64 (Member # 1431) on :

I pieced my 393w kit together having summit price match parts. I got the dished probe pistons and thicker cometic head gaskets to lower the compression. Im just under 10:1 with 61cc heads and 7lbs boost. You could also open up the combustion chamber on the head. Every little bit counts. Coast has some decent prices on their kits too if you dont want to pick your own parts out. Kind of takes the fun out of it with just buying a kit in my opinion though.

Posted by AR_Stang (Member # 10223) on :

I think im going to run it stock shortblock for now, and lil by lil piece a 393 or 408 down the road.
Im curious to know what you put down with the 393w @ 7 psi. You can PM if you'd like. [patriot]

Another question, what would i have to change fuel wise to run E85? I have 60lb injectors, sn95 rails, aeromotive fpr, and 255 intank/inline.

Posted by turbo50 (Member # 6700) on :

Depends on hp goal but I'd run twin 255s and 83s with a stock block 351 should do the trick.

Hoping for low/mid 600s with a c4. How about lines/rails?
Would 80lb injectors work fine with stock ecu/sct chip?

I would talk to your tuner to see how driveabilty will be like with 83lb injectors but I would at least upgrade the fuel rails, you are at limit with the stock lines.

Lee is correct, you are gonna be very much over the limit of the stock fuel lines. He is also correct in that you need to work with your tuner or folks that have been down this road. Few of my customers are having much success with Bob Kurgan and E85.

What fuel system do you guys recommend to run, from rails to tank?

Just got off the phone with Shaun over at All Out Performance, he recommended me to go with a A-1000 setup with 85lb injectors.

Thought I seen a A1000 setup for sale on here a while back?

The right tuner can make 80's drive like stock.

If you want a quality, complete fuel system then go with Glenns Performance 1000 hp kit. Its everything you will need to install.

Personally I would NOT run an A-1000. I've heard too many failure issues. But thats just me, what do I know lol.

If you want a complete system glenns is a no brainer my man.

They make fuel rails too.

If your going with the glenns 1k kit with aeromotive pump and drive on the street then you'll want the fuel cooler too. If your getting the kit with 2 pumps then you'll be fine without it.

How about this fuel system:

with a Magnafuel MP4302?

That will support what you are trying to do. It will be good for about 700+ rw on E-85. $900 for that kit + $430 for pump is $1330

I personally would purchase the twin 255 1000 hp kit from Glenns for $1230. You would save money and still support the same 700+ rw on E-85. I've had success with this kit on multiple cars.

Damn i completely overlooked that kit on their website. I'd rather go that route. One straight shot instead of collecting parts from everywhere.
Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it. [patriot]

What do you guys think. A1000 kit with -8an feed -6an return. Its missing rails,3 an fittings, and tank. I got some paxton 1/2" rails already, I would just need the tank and the 3 fittings. Im looking at a granatelli pickup but its a -10 feed and -6 return. Would that work?
Also is 600 a good price for the kit?

I dont like A1000 on street car.

Missing parts can add up.

Used shit....

TONS of folks offer kits like this.

Try race parts solutions but call him instead of playing on his website.

Agreed! Don't waste your time with used shit. I learned that the hard way. I just ordered my Glenns 1000hp fuel system last week.

Well i got a GOOD deal on a fuel setup. It's twin 255 pumps, -8 feed with a -6 return, paxton rails and pick up tube(might sump my tank). All I need now is a regulator. Once I outgrow this setup up i'll go with a single magnafuel pump.

So i have pretty much everything for the rebuild, now i just need bearings. Which ones should I get? It's a stock shortblock. Standard or undersized? I have NO IDEA [Confused]

Along with that, there was also a bearing change in 76ish.......
