So in the last couple days my 4th gear started to grind when i engage it and decided to check it out. I also started to get a whine in 2nd & 3rd gear. I pulled off the shifter to have a look and found what looks like to be metal shaving all in the compartment now im wondering what thia could be ....
Found this junk aswell-

most likley it ate the thurst bearing between the input and output shafts. still very rebuildable just dont drive it too long

what looks like is on your finger is anti seize compund
what did you scrape it off ?
i dont believe its from your trans because if you just popped the shifter off...theres no fluid transfer in there
yes...some residual fluid and you can fill the trans from there...but its not moving any significant fluid
#2 there is a magnet in the bottom of the case that grabs all steel filings...it would be there b4 it ended up in your shifter housing
personally.......
i think your synchros finally gave up, and the residue you find is a coincidence. im pretty sure its just antiseize and not gummed up metal
drive it better, match the r's on shifting and especially downshifting
you wont break it worse until you rebuild it

unfornuatly thats where a lot of deposits of worn trans parts always collect. bet worn gears and worn bad bearings.

Yeah i thought it was that too until i put a magnet to it. Had alot of metal come out of the junk.
That junk was on the back corner(closest to you) both side. In the top pic u can see where its kinda piled up from where i stuck my finger.
Im taking it easy on the trans until i either rebuild it or find replacement.
