The other day I installed a electric fan in my car. My car surges usually in the morning then goes away. After I installed the fan when I turn on the fan car surges bad then shuts off unless I give it gas. I noticed when I turn my fan on my fuel pressure reads higher (find that weird). My alternator is fine is a upgraded one... What can cause bad surging?

where did you tap in the power for the fan? using a relay?

Getting power directly from the battery. No relay. On and off switch with a fuse.

Hmm now the fuse blew out. This fan is too much hassle lol. I'm going back to the old fan. Anyone want to buy a electric fan haha.

That's weird I wired mine straight off the battery no fuse. lol I have that lil temperature sensor thing that's how I get it to go on no problems.

Smart move! I've never even considered an electric fan. I hear too many issues happening with them. I'm sticking with the good ole reliable mechanical fan! Not worth the hassle to switch for what....5 hp gain??

...but that's just my 2 cents.

Definatly worth it as long as it is installed correctly. Get a relay before you start melting your wiring or burning up parts

BTW you shure you wired the fan correct? Kuz if you wire it wrong it can fuck shit up quick.

electric fans are good thats why how many fords have them factory installed? just wire it correctly radio shack has the roght relay go for the biggest one there its a 70amp and has only failed once on me in 3yrs

Spal fan relay harnesses. ....Like $40.~
more than likely in addition to not being installed in the best safe manner; You may have a bad or low cell in your battery. Lots of time when the battery is of low quality....or not inspected often to maintain the battery water or acid level....you have a low fluid level in that or those particular cells and the lead cannot cool sufficiently. Also the charge and discharge rate is very poor. Decalcification of the lead plate begins. Battery is soon kaput!!! The battery cannot supply the amperage loads it use to....

the fan draws some amps. if u got underdrive pullys your alt may not be spinning fast enough to provide those amps needed by the fan, thus why it goes away when u give it gas to spin the alt faster. put a smaller alt pully on should speed it up to charge better thus fixing your prob. gd luck.
