I am thinking of buying one as a daily driver, 5 spd, with around 80k miles. How strong are the motors for 03-04 at 80k and how well do they respond to minor mods like CAI and plenum? Thanks.

They are good engines. Run bolt ons and never look back.
When you start running power adders you will have to look into a built short block.

there good engines if kept up with tune ups etc... taxis have well over 250k on them n police cars 100k n there driven hard, as far as bolts ons simply cai n plenum your not gonna feel the 10rwhp your goin to get out of it. 281 dont respond as good to bolt on's as 5.0's (302) or other V8's if your looking to have a fun DD add mid pipe x/h 4.10's n a sct tuner n look for an 04 there heads had more treads for the spark plugs just an fyi

also do the gas pedal mod [Big Grin] best mod i've done hands down

Thanks guys, yeah a friend of mine had a 2000 gt and he did CAI and plenum and it didn't change a bit until he put in 3:73's, I was kind of hoping maybe the 04 would have been improved since then, but no biggie. I'm favoring the 04 from the start, thanks for the heads up about the spark plug thread info. I'm really set on buying an 03-04 Mach 1 but they are elusive lol. Nonetheless a gt would fit the bill until I could find a Mach 1 [Big Grin]

Yeah, that one has too many miles. There's a black one in salinas, they're asking $19988, with 42k miles, but the pinstripe on the hood is a little messed up

I would like to, but I already have a supercharged mustang, and I like the mach 1 better then the cobra IMO
