I heard that their was a year were the 5.0 came with forged piston to support a charger I was wondering what year was it ? Because I have a 1990 and was thinking about a supercharger

'87-'92 had forged pistons

they work fine on a stock motor with hyper pistons too.

it's not like they are made out of glass, any motor will blow up with a shitty tune or timing/vacuum issues.

Yep, I also built a car that had hypers, it put out 481RW for a few years with no issues.

Plenty of things will go south before your pistons if you have a bad tune with forced induction. For a '90 I'd say your gaskets will go first if you have detonation (too much spark or not enough fuel). If the engine is healthy..good compression..good safe tune..there should be no problem putting a 6-8lb kit on the car.

yeah your fine...its not "having" a blower thats a big deal no matter what pistons. its how stupid you get

just cuz you run awesome with 10 lbs of boost...DOESNT mean you should try 20 lbs

FYI i spray a 100 shot on my 150k hyper pistons, have since i got it, no lift shifts, launch on the smack

and yes...they were forged til '93, and '89/'90 had the best cams in my opinion too

85-92.....forged and roller already. You can do 6psi all day aire day!!!!! It will handle that much Js fine. Its a great time to clean the engine block and replace all your long block engine gaskets as a preventative measure. I recommend a new oil pump at this time as well. inspect and service your cooling system. This includes the $10 radiator cap.
Re-install everything and you will have no issues.

I'm on my second supercharged Mustang 5.0. First was a 91 GT, now I've got a 93. As others have said it's all in the tune. I like the supercharger because it's a pretty easy install compared to heads, cam, and intake and will still give some pretty good horsepower.
