Well, it's official. an 03/04 Cobra engine from blower to oil pan and T56 transmission are on its way...and this is going to be transplanted into my 1997 Mustang GT. I know someone on here had done this swap before. Any tips and pointers for this conversion I should know about prior to diving right in?

I have a bunch of Termi swap threads saved on my lap top but they're pretty much all on foxes. If you're interested I can post them later.

One of the main things is getting the anti theft system overwrite, if u don't have the key that goes with ur ECU and j believe h also need the gas tank but don't quote me on that one!

How do I overwrite the theft system...I plan on using an 03 ecu so I know I'll run into that issue. So would an entire 03-04 tank work or can I upgrade my pump in my 97? Also will the gauge cluster from an 03 be plug and play? I plan to run a separate boost gauge...so I need find the boost sensor or wire and run that to the gauge. Thanks for the input

you need the 4v wiring harness if im not mistaken the stock 97 dash harness will not work with the 03 cluster, the boost hose is easy that should be the least of your worries, may be someone can correct me if im wrong on the dash harness. as far as overwriting the theft a good lock smith should be able to do it for you.

I don't know how much power you're looking for, but go return style if you can, Lethal has a budget kit.

A return style is preferred, aftermarket fuel rails might be a good idea I you haven't decided on them already..
You can have the PATS turned off in a tune.. Or have the computer taken to a tuner and I think they can do it for you there..
As far as the fuel tank, you can use your stock one and upgrade the pump to a 255lph or you can get the pick up tube made my Glenn's performance (which I don't recommend since you can't really run the car below 1/2 tank since it has no baffles inside.) with two inline fuel pumps running parallel.. (overkill if you are just doing a basic swap with and eaton)
As stated above, the 03 cluster won't work because it's an electronic speedo compared to the 97 which is a mechanical.. You would have to run a complete dash harness to run the 03 cluster..

So for those who know about tuners, if I plug in my stock 97 gt ECU...can i have a tune created and uploaded?

Im not 100% on the GT computer, but I think you can use the stock 97 computer and have a base tune put onto it to wok for the 4v.
EDIT: Just an idea, not sure if it would work, but maybe you can get a 97 cobra computer.. Maybe it will plug and play with the 97 harness?

ive got the heat exchanger hard lines and also the hoses (or at least most of the hoses) if you want them..

So I did some homework...so the 03/04 Cobra Engine Harness won't just be able to be plugged into existing harness in the car unless the dash harness is switch over to an 03/04 Cobra.
I heard you can use a stock GT harness, just have to extend a few here and there.
And for the cop set up, I'll have to find that out...

Don't kno how good you are at wiring, but here's a guy who did a COP conversion with his 97 2v..
