Either a radiator from a 5 speed or seal those holes with plugs and silicone (i filled that compartment with coolant before plugging it to help prevent it from corroding)

Could the snipped lines be why i have to add coolant every few months?

no, its a sealed compartment from the rest of the radiator since trans fluid runs through it

Those are basicly/usually in automatic cars or radiator made for an auto.
I own a 5spd and i put in an aluminum radiator for an auto, dont have to plug it up or anything, just looks mickey mouse
