so ive been dealing witht his for awhile and i think i may have tracked donw the problem..my car is an 87 so i did not come with the pmgr style starter..i wired it up correctly this time around.."lol"..but it will stick after i start it for about one sec making a small ugly noise..but if i time it right and crank it over and release the key in time it sounds fine..ive been reading up on it and they mention something about a permanent magnet in the starter??..my battery is in the trunk also...help..please and thank you [patriot]

Do you have the little starter selanoid on the firewall? I had that problem for a bit, replaced the starter and selonoid and have heard of it being pretty common. a friend helped me put the motor in and ran the main power and the accessory power to the starter off the top of the selanoid and the main battery power hooked up to the bottom as I guess the book says too. I re-ran the main battery power going to the starter off the bottom effectivley giving it strait through and constant power and then just ran the accessory power off of the top. Solved my problem. From what I understand, drawing the main power through the selanoid kept it charged for a second or two after you let go of the key, making the starter still turn when the motor is running, giving you the horrible sound
