gunna pull out my front and rear springs, what strut bolts do i remove to get the sprign out, the one big one in the engine bay?

the lower two would mess up the alignment if i took them out right?

never done this and need to get it done before tonight

if you want it done right you would want a tire alignment after the install, most important thing on the springs is you make sure the pig tail is seated correct in the a-arm and both rear spring pig tail has to be facing the driver side [patriot]

yeah i will, but i want to get it close so i can drive it for a week till i get another day off,so wich bolts do i remove?

the lower strut bolts that attach it to the spindle will make it easier to remove the spring.

I tried to do it at the ball joint but it wouldnt budge,

Not possitive on what to do at this point, not sure how much one coil will drop it either.

Are the lower strut bolts adjustable? Will I mess up anything removing them?

Also abs sensor is a star bolt??

Remove the brake caliper and disconnect the sway bar to make it easy on yourself. Lift up the jack and place it under the A arm. There should be three 14mm bolts on each strut tower.. remove those and slowly lower the jack down. You will need a spring compressor to remove/install the springs. Reverse this procedure to reinstall. You may need a little elbow grease to reinstall the springs.. more than likely a pry bar. Make sure the pigtails of the new springs are in the same placement when installing.

Not hard to do.. changed my front springs in less than an hour.

Doesnt that move the alignment if you take the strut out from up top?

ur taking off the spring ur whole alignment will be messed up [patriot]

you'll see 2 holes in your a-arm u need to cover just one up with ur spring

Not really.. if you're lowering the car it will for sure throw off the alignment. By removing those 3 bolts and not lowering the car, you shouldn't have an issue with the alignment. What are you doing with your car anyways?

Cover the holes?

Im going to chop a coil, tryin to figure how to disconnect the strut without changing the allignment. Theyvare aligned by the top so I cant touch that?

Tried doin it from the ball joint to avoid the strut but the joint wont budge so..its my daily do I have to drive it till allignment

Stop worryin about the alignment! If you're going to cut a coil then its going to be thrown off regardless. If I were you, I would just buy some lowering springs.

Okau,i treid to just pop the ball joints, but it wouldnt no matter what I did,so I got fed up,when I seen the abs bolt I just put the wheels back on.maybeva small socket will work

Im poor lol,

Im only doin one coil off, that shouldnt change it to much? Shouldnt drop it a lot would it?

Only springs I can afford are cheap ones at the moment so I figure my coils are better than chinese ones.

Posted by SLOWSN95 (Member # 8269) on :

You can find a good set of springs for cheap.. I got my eibach pro kits for $80 off of this site.

i got eibach prokit front springs for sale for 30 bucks.

if youre lowering it any at all your camber and toe angle will be thrown off even if youre able to line everything up exactly the way it was which is highly unlikely. just take the two big bolts off the bottom of the strut and also the sway bar link. be sure to put a jack under the a-arm before taking the strut bolts out.

why are you touching the ball joints?

and to deal with the abs sensor, just follow the wire from the spindle up to the fender, pull the wires from the little hanger clip, and unplug the wire connector, you don't need to unbolt anything.

hey sydewayz, i love that little fox,im not even a fan of those but nice car man, im actualy selling a set of those exact wheels today, i went with cobra r's

blind, cause i didnt want to remove the brakes and such, i found a write up from a spring instruction sheet showing the ball joint would be faster...well ended up being a pain in the ass. im actualy half tempetd to go tear into it again. i think i have enought time to get it done by this evening.

One word of advice, DONT try to use a pickle fork on the ball joint, ive had bad luck with those tearing up the ball joint and/or the boot. And thanks for the compliment bro
