Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is my first post here on these forums and I wish it were under better circumstances. I recently bought a 302 5.0 that was bored out to 331. It has gt40 heads, comp cam, and flat head pistons. The problem is, the gentleman I bought it from told me it was out of a truck; a 1990 f-150. Because of this, it has the truck wiring harness and I am unsure if it is useable on my mustang especially considering that it is maf. My 88 gt is speed density.

Will a truck engine harness work with the existing wiring harness that is coming through the firewall already or do I have to obtain a mustang specific engine harness?

Does the harness have to be for the year of the computer, or can it be any old harness that is mass air? ~The current computer is an 87 apparently (dont know how/why) with the code DA9 and from what I have read through on another forum, I cannot use it for this new engine I wish to put in.~

The engine was attached to an automatic transmission, so will I need a pilot bearing for the manual transmission switch? Also, how shall I get this drive shaft to pull the motor and transmission? My nissan 240sx u-joint was very different; I am new to mustangs, and I apologize for my lack of knowledge.

What if any parts need to be swapped from the 1990 powerplant in order to fit and work in my fox? Some concerns i was thinking about were oilpan, manifolds etc..

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Apologies for the amount of text.

Welcome to the Board. [Smile]

Before we get too far into the post, is the cam a H.O. (high output, 5.0 firing order) or a Non-H.O. firing order?

he says it is a non h.o., however i am going to test it at first opportunity when i get off of work today.

Edit:
On second thought, it was in a truck and running when I bought it, and the computer he was using was for a mustang. The code on the eec was C3W1 which I believe is for the 89-93 auto mustangs. I wasnt hearing any discrepancies with the firing order while the engine was running. He did say however, that the C3W1 was for non AOD so it would work for a 5spd manual mustang as well; however I myself dont want to take that at face value and would rather get some information before I do something bad.

The C3W1 is a MAF Mustang automatic computer which is typically installed in 1993

Need to find out if H.O. Cam installed or they may have swapped injector wiring around to compensate.

will i be able to use the C3W1 computer even though I have a manual transmission or will I run into issues? On my old 240sx it was recommended to use the automatic computer for the sr20det because cold starts were a lot easier.
