I have a 89 gt hatch, w/ 306, wc t5, 3:73,mild bolt ons,lil suspension. Im looking to get the stage 2 ram hdx clutch kit from american muscle for $190. I know u need to resurface your flywheel when u replace your clutch, but im goanna get a new oem flywheel. now when i was goanna order it the guy told me that i HAVE TO get a $250 steel flywheel, i responded w/ i heard its recomended but not neccasary. the guy still said that i have to. K so i kno 2 ppl that installed the same clutch and one resurfaced and the other got a new oem and they have no problem. i think he tried to upsale. anybody have input?

If the new oem one worked for your friend then what are you confused about?

Guy was just trying to sell you. Resurface your current flywheel and slap the Ram on it. You're good.

Yea it worked, but for some reason will it shorten the life of the new clutch. My friends barely had these the ram kit for about less than 4 months.

To resurface its like $25 and for a new flywheel i can get for $60 so id rather go new. Yea i thought he was tryna upsale.

K so i ordered the ram hdx kit which includes clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, alighnment tool. And seperatly i purchased ford racing pilot bearing, ford racing flywheel, and ford racing bearing retainer. Is their any thing else i forgot? Perhaps should i replace fluid and filter, if so ill buy royal purple, or what do you think works best w/ world class t5

Atf I had the royal purple stuff and you know it sucked

Dude u put gear oil. And your pressure plate is loose aswell as throw out bearing is bad.
