OK so buddy of mines car developed a knock says its only sometimes that when it cold once warmed up it really doesnt do it but he said he losses power n den all of a sudden bam his thing catches on n takes off quick 89 5.0 I say may b rckr but not sure? Wat u guys think? Says it comes from pssngr side top of motor.

how much oil is in it? Sounds like lifters aren't pumped up all the way to me.

not enough oil is cushoning the piston to wall surface so check everything that feeds oil

if its coming from the top of the motor, sounds like a stuck/ bleeding lifter

If it is a stuck lifter, you can use half a quart of transmission fluid added to the oil to help brake it up. Don't run it too long with it in their because it brakes down the oil too. Or take the valve covers off and find out witch one it is.

They also make sea foam that should do the same thing. Like $10 at auto zone.

And lifter would be more of a click not a knock. Knocks are bad.
