89 LX and heater is just luke warm....I have removed the hoses a few times and flushed it out, that sort of worked. I really need to give it a serious "flush". The radiator is only 2 years old so don't need to do entire system, but what I was thinking was to remove existing hoses and attach a 2-3 foot section and hold in the air and with a funnel, fill the core with some sort of cleaner. Is this a good statagy? No leaks or anything like that. If this is good idea, what would I use to clean the core? TIA

My heater core went out when it started not to get real warm.

You ruptured the core of your thermostat when you did the flush. Just go get a new thermostat and you'll be fine.

No, I'm just talking about the heater core only. I haven't did a radiator flush, it is pretty much new. I was just talking about a way to flush only the heater core. Its not leaking or anthing like that, just doen't get hot. Temp gauge reads about 1/4.

I was just thinking about removing the hases at the firewall and trying to flush only the heater core.........

what temp thermostat do you have and how hot does the engine run at?
I'd put a stock temp 196* tstat into it before blowing crap through the heatercore.
