[Embarrassed] sooo i stripped the threads put the balancer back on..what you guys think..re tap or helicoil?..anyone ever done this before? or am i the only jerk [Confused] [Mad] ..good way to ruin the weekend..any help would be appreciated..id ask duncan but i dont wanna wake him [Cool]

my buddy did this on his 95 gt wen he put
in his motor threads were all jacked up
we jus rethreaded it worked good never had
a problem again

I've re-tapped them with good success. Use PLENTY of lightweight oil and take your time.

your not suppose to pull the balancer on with the bolt. they make an installer, (if your doing it in the car this works best) if the engine is out, just use a block of wood and a hammer to put it on. you might get lucky and just be able to run a tap in the hole and clean the threads up.

A tap is going to cut new threads and make it weak. Get the Sears retreading kit to repair threads. It will just repair the threads without cutting new ones. Also go to autozone and rent the tool to put the balancer back on. [patriot]

Same thing happened to me I grounded down the first couple of threads and could not get it started for shit, ened up getting a tap of the same size and chased it out and recut new ones worked like a charm use oil
