Very good. Sounds like it's really gonna make some power then! Good luck.

so no input on tha cam and work to the bottom end of motor????
Posted by Luke87GT (Member # 21) on
:
Well, I'd make sure the bottom end has around 10:1 compression along with a TFS1 cam, and a Cobra/GT40 intake with a TMOSS ported lower if you are trying to stay cost effective.
Combine that with your dumb ass cheap port work and it should run well.
Good luck.

Also,
I had a 306, TFS Heads, Crane Cam, 9.8:1 compression, and an edelbrock intake and only put down 298rwhp on a brand new rotating assembly.

It can, and has been done with, off the shelf parts. A custom cam isn't necessary.

It doesn't take alot of porting either. You can do minor exhaust work and see major gains from them. The intake side is actually decent, and don't need much...if anything. Here are mine after the initial cut. Opened up the exhaust just a lil bit...

Please post up a dyno sheet if you reach 300RWHP area..
To be honest, with the $ spent on port work, maxing out the potential of them stock parts. You'd be better off buying "Out of the box" aftermarket parts for around the same price, make the same power if not more than "Ported GT40's", and have more potential to grow...
Unless your going boosted than that's another subject

Gt40s are simply the best bang for the buck..cali I thought you were a fan of the gt40s??maybe not enough to move your floptop sn9slug .they do. The trick

I have no grudge against them, they are actually a decent head when you are on a budget.. but spending money getting them ported will most likely bring the total cost close to aluminum head territory.. and "Floptop" are you another idiot here who thinks I have a convertible and your talking about weight so I'm guessing you have a fox... My sn95 has weight reduction so it'll be in the area of a fox.. Sounds like you are another broke bastard hating on sn95's because you can't afford one bro.. you can make up for the extra weight by getting more power, look at 03-04 cobras, they weigh more than a fox so why don't you say something about them ... this is tech talk.. Like I always say send me a PM if you have something smart to say

exhaust porting and bowl work is what really wakes these heads up..if your running a cobra/explorer or whatever intake make sure its fully ported..dnt expect to see 300+ with accesories to..i deleted the smog pump,ac and clutch fan...depending on how to the port work was done then its not impossible..but like most said not very cost efficient when machine and port work comes into play if your paying for it..but i didnt

Sorry to butt in but they didn't make the FLOPTOP sn-95 in 86,and I believe that dude has a terminator now, from what I read...aluminums for the win!

They are a decent head for a budget build, hense my use of them. I went with the P version, as they can be had for nearly nothing. Coupled with a set of long tubes, you'll have no worries with the plug issue. Remember that ANYONE can cut a cylinder head...make sure they know what they are doing.

lol! JaeJae, we need to see some dyno/track numbers to validate some of your fantastical kill stories you post around here.
What's your final combo anyway? Sounds like you got a strong 275rwhp car on your hands. Nicely done!
