my car was having idling issues and it was suggested it might be bc of a vacuum leak. i resolved my shaky idle (cleaned out my iac) but i still think i have a vacuum leak (vac gauge is still reading wrong at idle). anyone have some insight to where i might check first? e.g. a common source of a vac leak and how to fix it?

Could be those plastic hard lines on the passenger side of the engine compartment. This tool called a mighty vac comes in handy. You can get it at autozone. Guarantee you'll use it more than once working on cars.
