when i start my car in the morning (or after it has been sitting for multiple hours) my car has a really low idle and will die if i do not press the gas pedal. i have also noticed the idle has been fluctuating a lot. instead of holding at a relative constant rpm at idle it bounces between a couple hundred rpm. i have not measured exact fluctuation but you can hear the change and i notice my tach changing also. car is pretty much stock wt ~150k on motor.

has anyone experienced anything like this before? any advice for getting my car to run smoothly again?

You got a vacuum leak somewhere. Check the rubber hoses for cracks and replace.

My car use to do that and my friend took a ohm meter and hooked it up to the sensor on top of the throttle body and adjusted it and it didnt do it anymore.

i was just tinkering with my car because the idle would surge and drop back n forth...i tightened up the CAI around the rubber sleeves so that they were seated correctly with the tubing...and it idles much better.

thanks for the help guys.

i ended up cleaning out my IAC and now my idle is solid! cleaning it out also seems to have helped pick my acceleration [burnout]

here is a useful link for anyone else who wants to clean out their IAC
