I am trying to install long tubes on my 89 Fox..I have tried to put the left one in but it doesn't go in..WHAT AN I SUPPOSED TO REMOVE TO MAKE IT FIT?? I need some help..What is the easiest way to install Long Tubes in my car??LMK Thanks!! [Confused] [burnout]

For the left side am I supposed to remove the rod that connect my steering column to the rack and pinion it appears to be the only thing still in my way..LMK please. [Confused] [burnout]

on some longtubes the steering shaft does go through the headers

first get the car up in the air as far as you can get it. Then unbolt the 2 large motor mout nuts and raise the engine to buy you some extra space. install the drivers side LT from the bottom. you can also un bolt the steering shaft and move it out of the way for extra clearence

jack it up from the oil pain..just use something in between the jack and pan for a cushion..did my longtubes like this..

dont use a cheap header gasket or u will be doin the job again i use nothing but percys aluminum gasket and never any leaks [patriot]

Use a block of wood as cushion. Same way as changing motor mounts.

Yea I have already learned that,,LOL. My car had an exhaust leak cuz of that when the previous owner had they but some cheap shit so thats why I took off my headers..but now I realized I want the Long Tubes Instead.. [burnout]

wen u put it in on the driver side get a long pole like a jack handle and wen ur motor is out of the k member push the engine 2 the passenger side and they shud go right in did that on mine and i got bbk long tubes 1 3/4 and 3"collector

I've seen the steering shaft go in between the pipes of the headers before.

Dont think bbk is like that tho

Easiest way to install the driver side is do remove the steering shaft and disconnect the clutch cable then install from the top, this is without the use of a cherry picker to lift the engine..For the passenger side simply remove the starter to insert the header then re-install the starter..I did it all ready..thanks guys for your input. [Big Grin] [patriot]
