to clean the valves carbon up just use a drill with a wire wheel or a bench version i forget the name of it but if u get a shop to rebuild them leave that task up to them.

+1 on oven cleaner, everything looks brand new when done. I also use a green scotch bright pad and wd40 for lube of the pad.

I would suggest against a wire wheel on a drill, the small scratches that causes can create hot spots.

yeah dollar store oven cleaner is the shhhhit . takes everything off ..

by the way wear glasses and gloves . shit hurts if it gets on your skin .

i wouldnt suggest cleanin these parts with them installed. your knockin off tough carbon that is now fallin in your motor, that it would normally never be. bein stuck around your rings, fallin in oil gallerys just for starters, i think i can actually see the dirt or carbon stuck around the pistons in the pictures above. if your really bent on cleaning them for ? to look new, for false thinkin now its rebuilt cause its clean? at least do it upside down so the crap falls on the floor. this is how scratch,s in the cylinders happen, the grooves in the oil bearings that wipe everything out happen. this just how i do it, and dont mean to be negative at all. but if your gonna go thru the trouble of doin all that,,,,, do a quick rebuild and do it from scratch, your already half way there.and you can clean all the parts a lot better.use your energy a lil more productive.

Well the block is still together just wanting to clean the heads up, turbo50 is doin the rebuild of the block. I guess i gotta use my boys spring compressure and tear them down to clean them up.

if you're talking about my pictures, each cylinder was filled with rags and I worked on one at a time with that one at the top of it's rotation, nothing was ever used on the cylinder walls other than wd40 and a rag.
