I took my car to install my used cams that are in really good condtion. But the tech advised me that they do not install used internals. But I've seen people do it plenty of times. Is there anything wrong with installing used cams if there is no sings of any damage? Also Is there a way I can get them machined or polished so they can be considered a fresh set of cams?

Yea. I understand. But I want to give them my buisness. They have good prices and seem honest. But I dont want to have to buy new cams for $600 either. Can I get them machined tested or maybe polished. Idk. Just a thought.

first of all you can get a custom cam for about 350 second i would never use a used cam either because of regular were and tear it would benifit u to just get a new one and have it slapped in then u know nothing is wrong with the cam 350 is cheaper than a new motor

He has more then one cam, and if it was a flat tappet cam ur rite, but with hydrolic roller cams u dont have to worry. If u got the cams already put them in.

I can understand the shops position, the cylinder heads on your engine don't have bearings for the cams to ride on, so if there's any wear on the heads or the cams at all you'll have problems.

you can machine out the cam area and install bearing sleeves.

used cams on a modular are a recipe for headaches IMO.

Used cams are a no no especially mod motor cams. There is no cam bearings in a mod motor so those cams have worn in to the original set of heads they were on. I'm not saying they won't work it's just not a good idea.
