i may be wrong but i think the only difference is the rotating mass (weight) its less weight for your motor to turn, like getting a lighter flywheel, etc. i doubt you get 1 hp extra if youre lucky.

The alumn offers less rotational mass (weight) and size then steel. Steel offers less weight with the reduction in size. Alumn cost more. i used to have steel ford racing u/d and they were steel. Steel would b stronger.

I say go alumn, seems to offer more then steel

i have always used steel but jus came up on a set of aluminum 1s and always wondered the difference...of course i know weight but wasnt sure if there was a good & bad?

just weight and the color..lookz nicer..if your into the alum look!

ive had the aluminum wear out grooves in the pulleys, i dont think for a long haul i would use the aluminum . the steel would last longer.

+1 my aluminum waterpump underdrive pulley has really badly worn grooves in it from the belt, not all belt setups run the grooved side on the waterpump pulley but just something to think about, I was running no a/c or p/s at the time.
